I have yet to see a tin of McClelland's Balkan Beauty pop up on eBay for sale. I suspect it's because Balkan Beauty is pretty rare. I wonder just how many tins of Balkan Beauty were produced and how that number relates to McClelland's most produced blend.  Tin art of Balkan Beauty, one of my favorite McClelland tins. Image: P&C |

Had a member give out samples in a contest to see who could figure out what it was. Pretty good smoke. I have 1 tin sitting on the shelf.

I have three tins in the cellar but have not tried it yet. I hear its great though and some like it better than Balkan Blue.

Interesting, different tastes. I found Balkan Beauty to be harsh. Like Blue Balkan and H&H White Knight much better. I smoke a lot more C&D Byzantium than either, though. Mostly because it's available in bulk.

I need to try white night as well. I have a tin of blackhouse that I haven't tried yet. I love Balkan Blue. I am making myself get through some jars...well, like that is punishment lol.  |

I tried Balkan Beauty before it was officially released and didn't much care for it. It went flat and tasteless in the final third of the bowl. But the fellow who sent me the sample to report on thought it to be the greatest blend he had ever had. Different strokes for different folks.

FWIW, I like C&D Byzantium or H&H White Knight a lot more, and they're cheap and available. I don't think Balkan Beauty was anywhere near as good as Blue Balkan, IMO, seemed to me much more harsh, so that's one I'm not mourning.

Image: P&CI guess that a few thousand tins were produced, a fraction of a percent of Frog Morton. The tin art is a favorite of mine too! I don't know if you guy got your samples from from my buddy Adam but his review in NASPC's The Pipe Collector is why BB went into production!  |
