I wonder if the people who think they are superior because they smoke certain blends and not others are of a younger demographic. The people I know could care less what someone else enjoys. I mean seriously, pipe tobacco is pipe tobacco no matter what genre it happens to be. I wonder the same thing... That, or they are the next generation of hobbyists. I wonder, too. Little impacts me. I don't leave the house, so no smoking places don't bother me. What others smoke means little, also. Yet, in principle I have my views on what laws affect smoking. Some people literally can't smoke in their own apartment. I like discussing what others smoke, and as far as the next generation my thoughts are that there are more pipe smokers and that we don't lose an industry that is from the very birth of our nation. Growing up, Kentucky meant four things to me: Horses, Bourbon, Tobacco, and Blue Grass... the kind that horses are on, not music or smokable. This nation lost out on Non-Marijuana Hemp Crops because of stupid laws. Hemp can be made into about everything and we yielded it to other countries. The bottom line on hope for a new generation is that people find that happiness that a contemplative pipe smoke can give. Still in all, I revere several members here of being a guru of sorts. And I don't mind being less in that way, as I can learn from them. This was the short version of this post. Long version by request

I am curious as to why people would bash Sutliff? Is there some issues with the quality of their tobacco? Where does this bashing take place as I have not seen it on the pipe sites I visit. Is it some kind of new social media thing? I smoke one of their blends and find it pretty tasty(Molto Dolce). I don't know... I've encountered codger rage for not liking Burley.

Burley, the tobacco we start with, stealing a pinch from dad or gramps. Then we're too good for it for decades and then in our maturity we jones for that nutty weed

I don't know... I've encountered codger rage for not liking Burley. Burley, the tobacco we start with, stealing a pinch from dad or gramps. Then we're too good for it for decades and then in our maturity we jones for that nutty weed My dad was an English smoker, so I grew up with Latakia blends as my benchmark for "real" pipe tobacco. When I picked up the pipe the received wisdom on the forums for newbies was "Carter Hall in a cob!" I tried it, and if I hadn't also tried Nightcap and EMP I probably would not have continued. I'd also been smoking cigars for some time, so that probably destroyed my palate for the subtleties of Burley.

Unfortunately by the time tobacco becomes a cigar it has lost the qualities of Burley that I love. I do like cigars, but not as a replacement for tobacco. I'm always in the mood for a bowl

Just my opinion...Pipe smoking forums in most part are geared toward discussion of brands of pipes and the tobacco blends that are smoked in them.In reality I've met several hundred pipes smokers over the years.Almost none of them mentioned what they were smoking in what pipe unless I asked them..Most of them talk about every thing but pipe smoking..For example I recently met a pipe smoker.I could tell that his pipe was a Peterson.I asked him what he was smoking. It was a Lane blend. He didn't want to talk about that though. All he wanted to talk about a car that he was restoring.I love pipe smoking forums especially this one but in a way they are a bit out of reality...As I said before that's just my opinion. Could it be because, those who frequent these forums, do so because they see this as a hobby and hence want to discuss their hobby? And then there are those who smoke a pipe for a functional purpose and, in a sense, treat them in the same way as I would assume most cigarette smokers do...'I smoke, but that's not my hobby.'

Sigh. I wish this was true. Then I could get Glade "Latakia Scent" for in the bathroom.

You could just hang Bradley’s shirt in front of a fan in your house.... I think he orders nightcap by the bale.
