The wife and I have spent the day watching the episodes on Netflix... Two takeaways... There are some people with serious coin to renovate old churches, firehouses, barns, mills, and commercial properties to make some amazing homes. And some single mothers either have well paying jobs, generous inheritances, or broke arse ex husbands. Some amazing cribs. www.hgtv.com/shows/you-live-in-what

A friend of our family converted a silo into a house some 50 years ago. Guess he was ahead of his time. Can't say I was impressed with the square footage but the deck on top was amazing.
Concerning todays trendy housing ideas I think a lot of time and money is wasted trying to impress others. $ioo, ooo treehouses seem frivolous to me but that's probably due to my impoverished upbringing. Maybe I'm jealous I don't know, still I get a kick out of watching some of these remodeling projects.

Many of the ones I have seen, I think 100k would be spent gutting the buildings.

When you have disabilities it takes many $ to make home workable. Ramps hand grips widened doorways for wheelchair night adjustments teal. Save your pennies Shel

Within a mile I can think of 2 old neighborhood churches a brewery and right now a sausage factory that have been converted into condo's.

Personally, most of those homes are Ghastly looking to me except for maybe the one that was done more traditional with the vintage cast iron stove and such but, they need to hide the Microwave in a cabinet or something. That's just my taste, my former home was a standard 40's single level but, I had done each room in a different year from 1800's to 40's right down to functional phones of the era and electrical receptacles. Most people said it was very eclectic or reminded them of a museum, it was home to me. An old saw mill or cavern would make a neat home , I've seen some that were done very nicely.

I think the London clock tower was cool . Now that the wife and I are empty nesters our 37 ft fifth wheel works for us . We have a king sized bed , 60inch tv , fireplace ,washer and dryer .convection microwave . surround sound ,media center ,dishwasher . Well everything , we use the all the extra money to go out to dinner and take little road trips .
