So I am sitting here watching a pipe I bid on win the auction. I paid for it immediately through paypal and then I get a receipt saying the pipe is going here.
13027 7th St
Fort Myers FL 33905
United States
I just happen to live in Sarasota Fl about 90 miles from this address. I immediately go to my paypal account and it is fine. I then contact the seller to let him know something is fucked up and tell him my correct address. I then go to my ebay account and see this new address along with my correct one. I get on the phone with ebay and tell them my tale of woe and report the hack. I got rid of the false address of course but now I am wondering how I got hacked. I have had the same password on my ebay account for at least a decade. My latest ebay purchase was my Meer on Feb 9 so it had to have happened since then.
I looked up who lives at the address in Ft Meyers and came up with these names.
Jose Angel Mercado Sr. and Zoelly Mercado and Amber J Gates. What makes no sense is why on earth someone at that address would want a 1969 Dunhill LB. I am totally perplexed as to how and why this happened, anyone else have something similar happen to them?

I would guess that someone made a data entry error. You would be amazed at how often that happens. Someone has the wrong screen opened and doesn't catch it. Seems more likely in this case. If I was going to use a hacked account, I would have you buy me a motorhome. P.S. I have tried that excuse with the wife before. It never flies. Good luck Ron

If you use the same password on other sites, you might want to change them.
Good catch before it shipped.
One would think that Ebay would have a record of what ISP generated the change of address...but with my recent experiences with them, I wouldn't expect much from them....On my turd-o-meter, they peg the needle.

I thought PayPal was the one who had the buyer's address. I know eBay has it too, but when I pay for something with PayPal it's the verified address there that seems to count.
As to why, this might be a scam where they are hacking whomever they can hoping to get good stuff sent to them.
We were getting packages at our other unit (we live in a duplex, but only use the other side for office). I kept trying to get UPS and FedEx to pick the stuff back up. They said in their best Freddie Prinze Voice, Ees no my yob. So, we took the packages in. A few days later we saw a car staking out the joint, I guess looking for packages on our porch. Having seen none they figured they were screwed. Then we got broken into months later. Police gave the Freddie Prinze line, too. Never came by. We didn't have anything over there, so no great loss. I will add that I am still using the 1.5 TB Drive that someone was kind enough to ship us and FedEx wouldn't pick up. Expensive drive back then.
PS - I miss ya, Freddie

That' sucks, but well done for catching it before it was sent to the wrong address.
Although, what shocked me more was that there are at least 13027 houses on 7th street!

...this is most likely not a case of "hacking", but the practice is rampant... I have been "hacked" myself several times since the year 2000, and it has cost me many thousands of dollars...

The seller of the pipe has been great throughout this entire thing. He could have not believed me and shipped the pipe to the address ebay told him to. I spoke with him on the phone last night and he was totally cool. I have never had anything like this happen to me as my passwords are personal numbers from people alive and dead with letters as well.
Crazy days we live in that is for sure.

I get emails from ebay all the time, asking me to verify a password change which I never instigated. I ignore them, figuring whoever was trying to get into my account couldn't figure it out, so it must be okay.
