I got curious and I'm geeky this way: Smoker's Pride Virginia Gold = Lane Admiral's Choice Super Value = Sutliff Low Country = C&D Those who smoke these blends, do you detect similarities of those made by the same manufacturer? Meaning, is SP pretty much the same as VG? And further, are they just repackagings of other Lane blends (1Q, RLP, TK-6 etc.)? Not repackaging. VG is a slightly lesser grade and I can taste a little offputting substance in it. Sutliff B&G tastes like AC B&G, though Sutliff has a tad more topping on it. I like both and cellared both. Not for aging so much as having on hand. I think SP is a little less complex than any Lane comparison, which is one reason I like it. It's taste is obvious. They all may come from the same and respective batches. I am sure the cheaper varieties are surplus or lesser grade, but that's Jake with me. When Maker's Mark was first trying to expand sales they had a lot extra. For years you could get Maker's Mark under the label Double Springs (I think that was the one). You (at the time) were getting 10$ Bourbon for 5$. People in the know would buy one bottle of MM and keep refilling it with Double Springs and no one was the wiser Added - One of the TR reviewers here said Sweet Cask was made by Sutliff, who makes Sugar Barrel Match. They should be the same thing, but the cut is different.

I guess mine would have to be Five Brothers. I love it both by itself and as a mixer to add some strength to blends in need.

I am gonna sound like a pompous twit here, but that's life. I smoke the best cigars I can afford. I buy the best tobacco I can afford, I smoke the best cancer sticks I can afford and buy the best pipes I can afford. If I am going to smoke something that some say may harm me it may as well be the best I can afford! Nuff said on my end! ...agreed, Dave... Honestly I'm with you two. I am drowning in the good stuff. At the rate I smoke or even if I double that, its no issue money-wise.

I compare prices, but the cost of a great product is never an issue with me. When I am in the mood for Black Cav I go to SP or Whitehall. I have had PS, McC, Lane, Sutliff, etc. As far as taste buds go, mentioned earlier, it's when your taste buds ARE washed out that you need to keep looking for a more potent tobacco. I've been poor and well off. I understand both. I have been to good bars and dives. I prefer the dives. I am a Snooty pedestrian

I'm not sure if this qualifies, but I enjoy the D&R bulk blends.
