For any of you guys who have to wear ties, and have a sense of humor, I have a selection of classic Beatles and Looney Toons ties free to anyone who can use them. As an IT guy, I wore them for the one job I had that required it. Probably over a dozen or so ties with a few "straight" ones included. PM me ron

Nice offer. Thankfully, I almost never wear ties. When I do I like to find the most hideous, super-wide, loud 60s/70s psychedelic ones.

Only times I still wear a tie is at funerals and even them most of the time I feel over-dressed, how times change, used to have to wear a suit and tie everyday, now shorts and t-shirts!

The ties are spoken for. Going to Canada to inspire a classroom.

I own 3 ties and haven't worn one in years. When I was a manager in the car business I wore a suit and tie everyday. I had a nice selection of ties and after I opened my own business, I never wore a suit and tie to work again. My ex wife took all my old ties and made a quilt out of them.

When I lived in Kent and taught in Southend I was in Carnaby Street most weekends !

I have a Norman Rockwell tie featuring a Pipe, but it doesn't go with any of my T-Shirts!

Almost the last thing my father told me before he died was that he didn't want me to wear a tie at his funeral. He knew that I hate them.If anyone questions it he said.Tell them that it was my wish. That was 20 years ago.The only time I can remember wearing one was at my son's wedding.

I don't mind wearing a tie now and again, the last time I did I smoked my pipe minding my own business while standing outside, while the wife shopped indoors.
Four women is short order gave me some flirting smiles, even a twenty-something year old...even when the wife came out, she gave me a compliment, which is rare.
But in Arizona, it is usually to hot to dress in such a manner, so it is a rare occurance.

I inherited my Dad's tie collection. My wife also made a quilt out of them and gave the quilt to my Mom. I would like that quilt to come back to me someday in the distant future. I actually enjoy wearing ties. My wife likes the jeans and tie combination. Happy Wife = Happy Life.

I sent them to a good home. I just kept a couple for funerals. I missed 2 funerals that I could have worn one to, but I suspect that there will be other opportunities. People keep dying, you know. At least my family doesn't wear them to funerals, so there's that.

Great thread.
I've been a suit and tie guy for most of my adult life. At last count I've got north of 100 or so ties and a couple dozen pair of dress shoes, not to mention suits and a couple dozen dress shirts.
Thankfully, living in golf country, I've got more golf shirts than dress shirts. ;-)
Before anybody says it, ... Yes! I do have a larger closet than Blondie, and yes, I do have more shoes than my wife. :-(
In the end though, my favorite attire is a golf shirt, shorts and flip flops.

I dressed well and wore suits and ties for the first 2/3rds of my career. After that, we became a "business casual" company. I'm the odd man out here, but I don't think going from suits to shorts was a good thing. YMMV.

I wear a suit and tie for funerals and Sunday services only...but that's only because I'm the one taking them.

I love any opportunity to dress to the nines. With the obvious exception of funerals.Unfortunately, wearing a tie to cut grass/trees,or paint fences seems a bit much around here.Heck,I put on a vest and tie one weekend just because it felt right. My wife grilled me for an hour about being "Dressed Up".

After wearing ties daily from 1971 until I retired in 2001 I refuse to wear them for any occasion. A mock turtle neck pullover with a coat is as good as it gets for me.

After losing most of my muscles, ties were all given away, never again for me.
