That's what I like about this group. You can talk about another man's wood and no one calls you on it.

Damn that is a great looking Stanwell. Didn't know they had it in them. They don’t any more since they moved production to Italy ten years ago. They made some great pipes in Denmark.

Totally flew under my radar...probably not a bad thing for my wallet though.
When Sp ran the Crown achievement promotion with the lost Hilson's pipes, that was a really good deal also...a pound of crown achievement along with well made briars that were made decades ago... mine is a really great smoker.
Sykes really knows how to dig through European attics...for us addicts.

...quite nice John...and you're right, production in Denmark was superior to that of today...

...quite nice John...and you're right, production in Denmark was superior to that of today... It’s the wood too. They sold off the briar stock in Denmark when they out sourced production to Italy. I have 3 Italian Stanwells and 1 of them is one of my favorite pipes. However, the wood smokes different than my 7 Danish mades.

That's what I like about this group. You can talk about another man's wood and no one calls you on it. ...and you can mention that you spend your whole friday stem polishing and everybody knows what you mean.

That is a gorgeous Billiard. It reminds me of a Dunhill LB as it looks thick and sturdy. I also like the saddle stem and the really nice grain. Congrats on a fine addition to your collection.

The bowl is group 4: 0.75" x 1.5". Overall the dimensions are quite similar to my Dunhill group 4 Billiard (shape 60).

Very nice. Not much of a billiard fan, but I'd buy that for sure.
