N.Carolina Is progressive state with a growing diverse population, and a thriving economy. That's what the big wigs want folks to think about it.That's all they want folks to think about it.Some are referring to it not as a southern state but an east coast state. That's not where it came from though. As far back as the late 1800's N Carolina was a thriving tobacco producing and distribution center.A great deal of the economy that founded this state came from tobacco. At one time N Carolina was proud that it was the largest tobacco producer in the country.I read an article today that said that taking the history of tobacco from N Carolina would be like taking the history of cars from Detroit or steel from Pittsburgh..Now though the anti's would wish it all away.In my opinion a dis-honor to a lot of honest very hard working folks who deserve better.

If I am not mistaken (I often am and am doing this from memory), aren't the Carolinas and tobacco back to the 1600's? I'd mention Sir Walter Raleigh, but I can't recall if that was Carolina. Oops, I did mention him

Thanks, TFG. Dad was rather a boring fellow when it came to buying LPs. He did by The Button Down Mind of Bob Newhart. I have never seen the costumed version of that. Funny as all get out

When I first moved to NC in the early 80's, I would see acres and acres of tobacco. It was nice on my drive to work and back watching it progress from the spring plantings, to being topped, to being harvested. Thru-out the years I've watched it dwindle down to nothing. We'll see this spring if I even see one patch of it being grown in my area. Sad!

Loved going by the tobacco fields, seeing horses in the distance. Wife and I spent our honeymoon in Louisville and Bardstown. Bardstown, you say? They have the Museum of Whiskey there. Anyway, thank whomever you care to for cellars. I don't think it's going to get any easier to buy tobacco in a few years.
