I've never tried any of the Germain Tobaccos and the only Esoterica I have tried was Ramsgate, which I think is not a lot like their others. Push forward: We all know about the blowup a few weeks ago. I won't go into that, but the aftermath caused some reflection. I don't mind admitting I blew it, but I did nothing to take the first step to rectify things. Doing that is the definition of doing the right thing. Mark did so in public, what could have been done in private. He did so in such a way that he wore it on his sleeves. In some cases doing things publicly is the harder road and he took it. I have already mentioned his being a Kentucky Colonel. I grew up around Kentucky Colonels. For those that don't know, Der Bingle is a Colonel, too. In other words, the highest respect. Mark then offered me some Germain. I know that when you receive gifts, paying back may be impossible, but paying things forward is not impossible. I received two tins of Germain today. I am speechless. Partly because I have my Shire Cob clenched, smoking King Charles. If Esoterica is anything like Germain, I GET WHAT YOU GUYS ARE TALKING ABOUT! I had not smoked since Saturday. Xuan and I keep giving each other remnants of a cold. So, my first smoke report is smoooooooooooth!! I cannot recall a tobacco with these ingredients just being so mellow, soft, yet so full of joy. I got a momentary undercurrent of spice. Even got a yen for Barbecue for a moment. The whole time the base tobacco keeps delivering. This is maybe a horrible review, but maybe a good review of my emotions. Mark, I thank you so much for the gift, and for showing me how much of a gentleman a person can be. Sincerely and always will be your friend. David @10furlongs

What a generous gift. Maybe this will finally induce you to give up the Super Value and other floor sweepings you so enjoy?

Germain's 'King Charles Smoking Mixture' in the little round 50grs tins was a stable of mine during the eighties and their 'Hampton Flake' was a veritable nicotine knee in the tobacco pouch. Heady stuff..!

If I ever get notice of Germain being in stock, this would do it. In the meantime, SV and Nightcap Match will do. There is absolutely no comparison, though. I have never ever had such a smooth smoke. And, it makes me feel like king for a day

I have many tins earmarked for special occasions.. seems like none ever happen.. I do have a tin or two and a "very special" rope twist earmarked for a few days of fishing if the logistics can be worked out..
