I just saw a large briar calabash online. It reminded me of when I was a kid and my father helped run a country store. It seamed that every time I went in the store this short stocky man was in there. He would be leaned back against a counter smoking that big calabash pipe.I only knew him as old man Bell.It was said that he was retired from the navy and ran the VFW hall there in my home town.Aside from my grand father he is the first pipe smoker I remember seeing.I think the image of him enjoying that pipe is one of the things that led me to try it some 20 years later.Old man Bell I'm sure is long gone and his pipe may be as well.In my mind though they will always be here.

Nice post. Have you looked for a similar pipe?

It's memories like this that will help future pipe smokers start the hobby... Except YOU will be old man bell.
