“... only cigarettes are allowed at Casino Arizona”
After returning to the valley with my brother after touring the Grand Canyon, Sedona, and the mining town of Jerome, we decided to make a stop off at the casino before hitting the Trailboss ranch.
Never mind the fact that I had been smoking an hour before this guy in a suit showed up.
My reply was.... “ Hey bro, let’s head to the Wildhorse Pass casino, the staff there tells me that pipe smoke is a nice change from cigarettes”

I Imediately called the office and lodged a complaint and asked them to revisit their policy about pipe smokers, and relayed the attitude of their competitition.

Years ago I had a connection for Cuban cigarettes. I would get Partagas, H. Upmann, RYJ and they smelled just like a cigar. I would go to bars that had a no cigar and pipe rule and light my Cuban cigs. The waitresses and manager would walk around looking for someone smoking a cigar. I sat there laughing my arse off as they searched.

I smoke my pipe at Casino Arizona all the time (2-3 times per week), would take my significant business to another casino if I was told I could not smoke, Wild Horse pass even sells pipe tobacco (if your desperate!)

I've not been to a casino for about a decade. I was not in my smoking period back then. Ten years prior to that I was smoking stogies, drunk, and killing the blackjack table in Tunica. As far as a pipe in a casino my issue would be that I would be more concerned with enjoying the pipe and not caring about the bells and whistles. However, a three dollar cig roller and a few papers might make the diff for some

I walked into a hookah lounge a few months ago and was told I couldn't smoke my pipe.

...unless you really like the place otherwise, I would take my business elsewhere...

Funny you should say that, a few years ago when family was in town, the Angel Valley Lodge was pretty much on the skids since spiritualist James Ray got them people killed in the sweat lodges. I amoked my pipe all over them grounds, even in the circle of life walk....When I was seen by the owners, it was obvious that they didn’t approve. So many of the meditation stations seemed to try and associate with Native American spirituality, I should have said I did so by smoking my peace pipe.

I meant to put a smile emoji after my last post. I associate pipe smoking with a relaxed, meditative state. It should be encouraged in spiritual outdoor settings. I would love to smoke a pipe in a kiva at Bandolier. I imagine that it would be a federal crime. All other kinds of activities up to and including devil worship are tolerated.

Cigar smoke and smell have to be driving this decision. I can't imagine they've encountered enough pipe smokers to make that distinction. Sounds broad brush approach to a problem that barely exists.

Smoking regulations are part of the reason I rarely leave home. The No Cigars and Pipes sign was a common sight back in the day in smokey restaurants, taverns, airplanes and the club car on trains.

So, wife and I stopped into Casino Arizona on our way home from Ye Olde Tobacco Shop, walked into the main entrance smoking my pipe, passed 2 employees watching the doors, neither said anything, ordered a drink, again nothing mentioned, we stayed for about 1 1/2 hours, multiple employees around, no one mentioned the pipe, well except the lady next to me who asked if she could have a couple of puffs as it smelled so good, same she didn't smell as good as the tobacco!

I've been told the same at Buckeys and Cliff Castle, both ... haven't been back either. No comps, drinks aren't cheap and now no pipe or cigar? No thanks!

Nuts to them.
Had an Irish Pub in Tucson of all places pull that foolishness on me many (ok, the '90's) moons ago when I was going to school. My friends and I, most of us pipe smokers, were shocked. "You realize this is an IRSIH bar?" They couldn't make the connection. Too bad as the Guinness was on tap, the patio as spectacular as the scenery, and we'd spent many nice evenings with a draft and a pipe.
So, as with so many things in life, vote with your wallet.

That's all we can do, vote with our wallets, no longer going to be a patron of Casino Arizona, I went to Wild Horse Pass tonight and asked them specifically were there any rules on pipe smoking, all I got was the "deer in the headlights" look and was told "Should there be"?
So my local Harrah's in Maricopa and Wild Horse Pass will not get what's in my wallet!

Indeed...it is a great place to smoke, the only reason we stopped at Casino Arizona is because it was on the way home, and I could tell my brother was Jonesin' to get scalped in the wallet. Even the outlets at Wildhorse pass, I smoke my pipe in the outdoor eating area and no one complains even though the ashtrays are all out by the entrances. I think the same policies are mirrored at their other casino's, and wildhorse and Lone Butte are close to my home....they might even allow smoking in the restaurants for all I know as it is a sovereign nation.

I don’t think it will happen to me because I have seen to many downsides of that addiction. My brother plays Keno, I understand maybe enjoying a drink in the keno lounge and casually waiting for the numbers to be drawn, but he plays the keno machines that take money at lightning speed.

Only the casino wins when you play the slot machines, which is why there is normally so many of them, only games where you stand a chance is blackjack and poker, where the odds are mostly in you favor! Biggest issue is the people going there thinking they are going to win, seeing how desperate they become and spending more money than they can afford to lose! FYI, Harrah's Maricopa did actually comp me 2 drinks last night even though I added to my bill fold!

I'm a Texas Holdem' player and really only go to the Casino for tourney's ... player vs player, not the house. There's no smoking of any kind allowed at the poker tables, though.
