This is an add on European channel available at Amazon for $8.00 monthly (free 7 day audition). From 1994 - 2005 French viewers have enjoyed Maigret in all his pipe smoking glory. Multiple episodes per season, that are near movie length. 9 Seasons available. Production values are high. Sub titles are clear, good sized and in white for easy viewing. Bruno Cremer smokes up a storm. Usually always has a pipe going and he is no apprentice, he know his way around briar. Many good shows on this network: Wallander (2 Scandinavian versions) the French police procedural: Spiral, Nero Wolfe and 125 others. I enjoyed the Michael Gabon version, but it was too short at only 2 Seasons. Well worth checking out this accurate and enjoyable rendition of the Maigret canon.

You can also get this on Brit Box as well as hundreds of over British tv shows for a monthly subscription, new Maigret has Rowan Atkinson (Mr bean) in the lead and yes he has his pipe!

We also subscribe to Britbox, and started watching Maigret with Rowan Atkinson yesterday and found that it is a great show to watch. I really enjoyed the second episode, "Maigret's dead man". He comes off convincingly as a pipe smoker, and it doesn't seem like a prop at all. Who knows if he smokes a pipe for leisure, it would be pretty cool if he did. Regardless, I contacted his publicist and asked if he would do an interview with Brian Levine...keep your fingers crossed. I expect a rejection response...but all they can do is say no.

Ah, very nice to hear this! I'm a big fan of Simenon's Maigret novels and have read quite a few. Rowan Atkinson is a curious choice but it sounds like it works. Will check it out.

Atkinson is weak beer compared to Michael Gabon and not even in the same universe when compared to Bruno Cremer (though he does try to ape Cremer's persona as Maigret).

He has had a lot of paparazzi and tabloid exposure lately.
Probably not much of an upside on doing interviews unless they are for a new release.
