Or so I just heard on the TV News. This is interesting, since my mind's eye visualizing Robert Morley when I think of gourmets.

Don't see his name much these days. Got a kick out of his book "In Defence of Indolence." Speaking of portly gourmets, James Beard comes to mind as well.

Having been on both sides of the coin, I am not entirely sure I concur. My tastebuds have not changed, I still eat for taste and experience not stress any longer. I think that what they are extrapolating is that after bariatric surgery, you eat less therefore you tend to lean towards higher quality rather than quantity. Where I once might have wolfed down a medium grade burger, I now lean toward a prime ribeye. Does not mean my tastebuds have changed just my decisions on what to eat. If I can ever figure out how to post a picture, I'll share the before/after pic I have. ExChef AKA Former Fat B@$tard

I would say that if obesity killed your taste buds then people might stop eating as much because it doesn't taste good.

May be valid for food, but I am a doubter regarding tobacco. Some of my aromatics smell good enough to eat, but I'd rather smoke them. Obesity is a problem in those countries with a thriving economy. I could (and have) drop 20 pounds. Many pipers are overweight. Indeed, it is my theory that the #320 Author is so wildly popular as it reflects the carriage of its owners.

It seems logical. The body has all kinds of responses to issues. Swelling, losing conciosness etc. It only makes sense that if a body is getting too many calories the brain attempts to shut the system down. Haha.
Probably why companies have had to increase the fat, sugar, and artificial flavorings in our food over the years. I for one can honestly admit eating a bag of Cheetos without recalling how they tasted. Haha
