Does Gawith Hoggarth make a VA Flake without any Lakeland ?
Does it dissipate if the flakes are dried out ?

Bright CR Flake is really nice and not sauced. Dark Flake Unscented is a nice one if you don’t mind some burley in the mix.

I've smoked Dark Flake unscented, but it still had some scent to it.
What if I completely dry it out?

I've smoked Dark Flake unscented, but it still had some scent to it. Agreed ... "unscented" it is not. Drying always helps these compressed tobaccos but that Lakeland flavor will still be lightly there. I'd go with the Sam Gawith Va Flakes if you want none of that essence ... FVF and Best Brown are tasty.

I think the OP was stating Samuel Gawith's Best Brown Flake which is straight Virginia (I believe it was SG and not GH). Correct me if I'm wrong...

Samuel Gawith BBF is a straight VA flake Gawith Hoggarth BBF is a VA/Burley Flake
Samuel Gawith VA flakes haven't been available recently, except for Iwan Reis. They had SG BBF in December. I haven't seen SG FVF anywhere since early last year.

Comprende..... thanks for the clarification.
Make sure you take advantage of the alert notifications offered by SP and P&C, and elsewhere..... even so, with some blends a few hours and they are all gone if you don’t constantly check your emails.

Flakes can be hit & miss, in/out of stock. Luckily, I keep some Dark Birds Eye on hand if just such an occasion. Wonderful stuff too.

I recently bought some GH Bosun Cut Plug Unscented and it is definitely scented. I knew that it was "unscented for a Lakeland Flake" before I bought it and I have to say, the Lakeland essence has kind of grown on me, at least when it's lightly applied. I would not classify Bosun Unscented as lightly applied, but it probably is in comparison to Bosun Scented.

BBF (Samuel Gawith) is one of my favorite VAs. I recently started smoking FVF and it’s right behind BBF.
Last night, I learned SG Kendal Plug is actually BBF in Plug form. It sounds amazing. Have any of you tried it, and is it still being produced?
SG also makes something called Pensioners Flake. It’s the marriage of the remains of FVF and BBF. Has anyone tried this one?

...SG Kendal Plug is excellent...you control the cut, burn rate, etc. depending on how you cut/slice it...

I love BBF and FVF but they're rarely available these days. Sorry, I missed this post previously. BBF & FVF do sellout quickly from the online retailers. Have you tried searching for a good B&M? I purchase mine from my local tobacconist who usually has it on the shelf longer than the online stores. The trick is finding a good B&M these days.

Kendal plug is still around I managed to get some the last time I got an email from sp that it was in stock. Its popular and with good reason. I cant compare bbf and kp as I only have aged bbf and fresh kp. Both are excellent fresh or aged.

I purchase mine from my local tobacconist who usually has it on the shelf longer than the online stores. The trick is finding a good B&M these days. Unfortunately in New York, between the usurious tobacco taxes, the FDA and landlords refusing to renew leases, there are but a handful of B&M stores left. In Manhattan, there’s Davidoff and Barclay Rex. They’re (Barclay Rex) concentrating on the cigar side to the detriment of pipes. The remaining store blends are mediocre at best. I believe back in the 1980s, some of the blends were made by McConnel, but that’s history. I order from Peretti, but some of their blends changed or are no longer produced since McClelland exited the industry.
