Bought my first pipes from a friendly Tinder Box manager while in college. Two deep, dark secrets I trust the collective won't hold against me: I like aromatics, and my current favorite is Tinder Box Wilshire (not my all-time fav, but of what is in current production.). I know, sweet, yeah, too much so, wet, if you don't let it dry a bit, but we are doomed to like what we like. Of course, I never claimed a sophisticated pallet. you don't have to apologize for smoking Aromatics on this Forum, David. You're not alone Driftingfate, Wilshire is The Tinder Box's name for Lane 1-Q, one of the best selling tobaccos out there. I smoked it for the first time last year, but plan to always have some on hand from now on.

The carver, decades later, gets 3x the price now. Also bought a Meer Lined Bent Pot from them, which served me well and I have no clue where it went. One of the Tinderboxes used to save Filipino Flor de la Isla and Connecticut Club Cigars for me. The CC's were all natural leaf and about 15 for a box of 50. I can find neither of those cigars anymore. Oh well, Bring on Swisher Sweets and Rigoletto Black Jacks

I have some Lane 1-Q and never made the connection. Obviously, I'm not smoking enough. Well, have to fix that moving forward. Flip side, I don't have to worry about running out of a source of tobacco!

I have an old tin of reserve 1928 a blend sold by tinderbox blended at Mcclelland. Anyone have any comments or notes? Maybe I should crack the tin and smoke a Bowl for Ed who started/opened Tinderbox in 1928.

I will stand with you and publically admit I to like aro's. I like 1Q, I like Frog Morton's. I dont need a toping but I need a casing. I like FVF, but I tried some of the Esoterica blends that are straight tobacco and just did not do it for me. Needs to have some sweetness to it.

I used to get complimentary ones while sampling Sweet Red Wines, Oporto, etc. They are excellent and mild. They are also hard to find, which makes me unsure of who made them way back when vs who makes them now. Used to be able to find them right next to Swisher's and White Owls. I was fooled by the dark leaf, but good flavor and an all day cigar

Thanks to the kindness of a member of the AZ Pipe Club, I was able to sample Frog Morton's last month - very nice smoke it was, too! I can see the allure, but a day late and a dollar short. And, thank you for standing with me, not that we are trying to conquer the world or anything (or are we?).

Fairly widely available online, but I have too damn many cigars to justify buying more. www.luismartinez.com/Rigoletto-Tampa-Made/

One of the places also sells Swisher Sweets Perfectos, so it looks like I may place an order... which will be met by a fist full of frying pan when she sees me with stogies

I do have a good tinder box story to tell.. i just didnt want it to look like i was just dog piling on them... Anyway I was at some mall in Laurel MD waiting to have a my truck unloaded at a Circit city I went into the mall to kill time before my delivery appointment. I find a tinder box that just opened and started shopping and when i was done I sat down to my newly opened tin of bombay extra. Soon a few people wandered in...regular crowd you could tell.. and the owner is really excited about a new box of cigars and passes out the diomond crown maduro cigars the the regulars. when shop owner and his buddies come sit down I ask the owner if the cigars were for friends only or could I buy a couple. He looks at me..smiles..holds out his hand tells me his name..asks me mine then said since we are now friends he has to go grab me one too. that was great service and customer relations.
