Messing about with a Tom mix, a University flake with a few pinches of Troost & St. Bruno. In my long Cossack combo.

I am a long term pipe smoker , but I am just learning the ropes as a hobbyist, and mixing my new blends as well as "straight" bowls, but beginning to enjoy the hobby, and making new virtual friends, like smoke rings...

After ruminating through the night on PS Balkan, Other than sampling a bowl of American blends occasionally, I have decided to use Dunhills tobacco, and pipes ( Hardcastle & Parker) more regularly, so Dunhill Early morning Blend will be in my bowl down the line...GW/DV Also a good mix at times.

Ended the Saturday afternoon with a bowl of Rattray's Bagpipers dream, in my rough hewn Afro'Olivewood " Prince of Peace " cubic bowl. Of the 3 bowls I enjoyed the tasty Buttered Rum & the Black Cherry, they are instant fun hits, but my favourite was the Bagpipers Dream , the more interesting amusing smoke. Keep puffing and praying, folks.

Hey Tom, if I could implore you to post your smokes in the "What Tobacco Are You Smoking Thread" it would be greatly appreciated. If you want to maintain this thread to discuss you own personal blend that you are tweaking, that's fine, but the day to day what are you smoking should be over there.
Thanks

Does anyone feel like I do at times , with so much choice and variety , to put all my blends into a big bowl and give it a good mix up , then put it into jars and simply smoke the plain mix, without being spoiled for choice. At other times I feel like taking my carpenters hammer and video myself smashing ALL my LCD screens and post it on youtube !! How much bad luck would that bring ?

I take the remnants of tins and put them into a big jar. Been doing that for years so there have to be parts of 50-60 blends in there. The interesting thing is that the mess actually smells good.

Before I was a pipe & cigar hobbyist , I would not have a cellar, but empty one pouch before buying the next, busy days.

Mixing my tobaccos is central to my pipe smoking religiosity... yet I also sin by smoking blends neat... My tobacco was like a sacrament to me in my younger communion days, now it is very much part of my way, my spirituality, my religion, like bread and wine, I em studying my herbal books a bit and learning about mortar and pestle, a little.

Ya know when I first seen this "Messing about with my Tom mix." I thought it was about Tom Mix! And wondered why would anyone want to mess around with Tom Mix. I'm I showing my age?
