...any of you old-timers remember "Sailorman Jack" or Dick Bies or, hell, even Greg Pease when he was posting regularly on alt.smokers.pipes? I miss them days...

OLD!!! now that defines Ed unless somebody can beat 12/40. Still at old ASP (about the only one), recall GLP there & often in the attached chat. Not familiar with Mr. Bies
As to the late lamented super guy Sailorman, was anybody here at Barry Levin's 1st "real" pipe show near Boston in '87? I won, as a total newbie to show, Best freehand collection. Met "Jaws" Esserman roaming the tables, just so encouraging et al to a "rookie". Jack was, as he was at most earlier shows, the MC. If you were there, you'd remember me too on stage. I backed him up on fiddle. Priceless those x-rated sea chanties Jack spewed forth.
Just great long ago memories & thanx Mr. Drama for the thread.
