I brought up his name in response to to a post tonight so I would like to tell you some things about him other than his manager skills. When sparky manager the Tigers he did commercials for Ford.He donated the money that he got to The Children's Hospital in Detroit. He also visited the hospital on a regular basis and gave autographed baseballs to the kids..My wife and I have been the legal guardians of a physically and mentally handicapped boy for over 40 years now.His name is Jamie I say boy because he's the size of a boy.In 1987 when he was 12 he went into a diabetic coma and was in that hospital for 7 weeks. They only gave him a 2% chance of living but he made it and he's still here.I give thanks every day that he is.One day I went to the hospital after work.My wife said some baseball guy was here today.I asked who.She said I don't know but his name is on this ball that he gave Jamie.I looked at the ball it was signed Sparky Anderson..The ball is displayed in a curio cabinet in my living room.It will be here as long as I am..If this post is more personal than you think it should be I apologize.I guess I'm just a little emotional tonight.

That's beautiful story on many levels, . Unconditional love, kindness and perseverance from you and your wife, Jamie and Sparky. It's a special convergence that never makes the news but affects so many people. Yours is a story worth telling and I'm glad you did.

Larry what a fine story, you and your wife are Saints for the burden you have taken. I truly admire both of you.

Amazing! Yesterday I heard of a lady in Paarl (not that far from Cape Town) who runs a soup kitchen. The amount of people she makes food for is staggering. And she does this out of her own free will, 7 days a week, 365 days a year.
