I've come to think of Sutliff Tobacco Company Virginia Slices 507-C as a good pipe tobacco available at a great price. Sure, there are richer, more nuanced Virginias available on the market, but as an everyday pipe tobacco, the 507-C works very nicely. As I've only had this one fresh, I am wondering how 507-C ages? Does it develop sweeter and richer flavors over the years? Is anyone cellaring the 507-C as an alternative to Dunhill Flake?

I like and smoke it. Price is very reasonable. Have some jarred with 6 months, so can't comment on aging this. I find it much milder than Dunhill flake and have never thought of the two in the same terms.

I've smoked this product aged, and it greatly benefits from it. It's one to cellar.

I recently picked up four ounces of this specifically to cellar. Though it may not sound like a lot it sort of is to me. I also picked up Lane VA... a pound. I wish my orders were reversed

...a fine Virginia slice...as suggested, a bit of cellar time makes it even better!

I'm a sucker for the virgina/perique slices. You can get a good deal of this with Stokkebye Luxury Navy Flake at the battle of the blends.

I’ve got a bit of the 507-C an enjoy it ok. So far it’s mixed well, with some Izmir for a little added zing.

I purchased a pound of 507-C recently. I was surprised at the condition of the cut. The flakes were fully separated/broken, so that the bag resembled a pound of thick ribbon cut.

I have gotten a few ounces of this in the same condition. The broken flakes saved me the time rubbing it out. Got a pound recently and it was mostly flakes. It is a nice change from other flakes.

Come to think of it, I've had boxes of Samuel Gawith Best Brown Flake fall apart in much the same way.

I've been aging a pound of it for 1.5 years and it has definitely improved with time.
