I don't know if this has been done here before, but I couldn't seem to find it. I was inspired by the other corn cob respect thread, and yeah, I like a corn cob smoke from time to time. I've probably got about 10 altogether, but half of them are modified in some way, usually the stem. So lets see what you got wether its been customized or not, show off your favorites. These are my favorites and are all customized in one way or another, either by me or someone else. From the top: A Dunhill cob that I made from the shank and stem of an old patent era pipe that had about a half a bowl left after burn out and breaking. Next a Country Gentleman that I found on eBay that had been customized with a red shank cap and a forever stem. Then an orange stained 5th Avenue Diplomat with an orange swirl stem, also from eBay. I cut the shank down because the stem was so long. Then a version 1 Freehand I bought new, that I painted up the shank to match the bowl. Last a Mark Twain that I added an Ashton shank and stem, and stained/rusticated the bowl to match. The stem and shank came from eBay too, from an Ashton Pebble Grain XXX that they said the bowl had burned out and they cut the shank and stem off. Was cheaper than a forever stem.

What a timely thread! My new favorite cob is this one.... A wonderful surprise gift from our very own Lady Margaret. She blindsided me with it @ the TAPS show in Raleigh this weekend. Thanks Lady M! Here it is, proudly displayed with my "Special" pipes...

My cobs are pretty much stock... if I were to post them it would be like Detective Columbo posting his smoke belching Peugeot on the Hot Rod magazine.
Nice herd in the remuda, M&J!

Thanks for the comments everyone! Nice to see some cool cobs too. Dino, that display is awesome, and Lady M the Twain is a dark reddish brown.
Lets see some more cobs, don't have to be custom, just your favorites.

So here's my first cob. I rusticated it with a Dremel and then sprayed it with stove paint and then with a gloss coat. This is my LEGEND...and I'm a LOVER of it... It's the same one in my avatar beside a brand new one which I rusticated for a friend. Despite the photo they're the same size, but the staining on the amber stem is noticeably different.

Here are my favorites right now. Country Gent with an amber bent stem (was my first pipe) Legend (dedicated to Aromatics. I also have the same pipe dedicated to Latakia blends but it's not in the picture) My World's Ugliest Cob. It was a cheap Chinese pipe that I picked up for a couple of bucks. After I poked a hole in the bottom with a pipe tool, I put a piece of dowel in it and threw some stain on it. It's my working in the yard pipe. I'm going to smoke it until it dies. Apple Diplomat with a Red Forever stem. I smoke VaPers and Burleys out of it. I like it quite a bit.

Okay, so in this photo at top right are the first two cobs I owned (actually the first two pipes I ever owned) I bought the straight Legend first, it was the only thing available at Rite Aid when I decided to buy a pipe. They had Dr Grabows, but I wanted cheap since I didn't know what I was doing yet, lol. A week after smoking my Legend for the first time I went out to a different Rite Aid and they had a bent Legend.
The others are vintage cobs that have come my way. I bought one (top left) at an antique store and the other three have come my way throught a secret pusher, lol.

Here's my favorite - it's just a plain old Country Gentleman with a forever stem. I have smoked the heck out of it.

Just got 2 Old Dominion Cobs today. I am now officially a Corn Cob Heretic. Immediately to my liking is that the chamber is smooth, which will make wiping out easier. Will be baptizing one in a little while.

Great cobs guys, LL those customs pipes are great looking! Lady M, cool old cobs, especially the Corn dog! David, I've been on the fence for a while on getting an Old Dominion Cob, mainly because I sometimes clench a pipe and I don't know how those reed stems will hold up.

Not all teeth are the same, but even with the round stem/bit I clenched and got a good draw with that and my lips closed (no funny comments here). First smoke was great. The smooth chamber makes a huge difference to me. MM chambers are harder to load and clean.

I had a very poor experience with Old Dominion cob. Stem fell out and had to be glued. Chamber was full of burrs and when I attempted to clean them out, the pipe cleaner went right through the thin bottom. I couldn't adjust to the reed stem and after rebuilding it, I put an MM bit on it. Bowl capacity is very small. It smokes OK now, but I'll always have a negative impression of it. Also, it is not made by pipe people, but a byproduct of grain millers.

Also, it is not made by pipe people, but a byproduct of grain millers. The stems are not glued in for a reason. They can burn out eventually on the end and you just insert another. They should fit snug, however. They sell the replacement stems on their website. They have several bowl sizes as well. Their smallest is pretty tiny, but is a decent quick smoke. Love my two ODs.

I also realize the stems on OD could wear or split of chewed too much, but no worse than the cheap plastic ones. I'll be stocking up on some stems. The chambers in both of mine are perfection and the stem does not come shooting through the chamber making, which makes it tougher to clean around. I am smoking my cobbits of late, too, so it's not a diss to MM. Just liking how much easier the bowl is to clean.
