So I ordered a tin of Kendal Cream from an online place. I had to phone because it wasn't showing up on their website.
I asked why it wasn't on the website and the assistant said that it was a very slow mover so they discontinued it and this was the last tin they had. She said the tin in stock had been there for quite a while so she'd knock a few pounds off for me.
This was extremely kind of her and I'm getting some aged tobacco for a discounted price - score!

Nice score. You may want to call back and ask what else they have that has been hanging around the shop for a while. You never know what other pearls may be laying there.

By 'discontinued' did she mean as far as their inventory or have S&G actually halted production? Hope it isn't the later. I really like Kendal Cream and I'm sick of losing blends. haha

That mindset of discounting aged tins is similar to reports I have heard of Mac Baren offering to replace 10 year old tins with fresh!
The pipers goal to age tobac and the retailers desire to move stock, certainly worked to your advantage.

It was MB assuming they would secure loyalty and business, by . . .mistakenly . . . assuming that the piper saw the old/aged tin as a negative. |
