This image does not appear to be a packaging issue...but a USPS handling issue. If the retailer added the right amount of air pillows around your tins, they've done what's appropriate. The best box will be crushed by USPS, Fedex and UPS. And Jesse...I echo your comment about a particular retailer. Funny that they admitted it was poorly packed. The boxes are very soft cardboard with fold bottoms that they don't tape. I realize that these are handled by gorillas, but this never happens with anyone else in the tobacco business. On a previous order Russ had to admit that they found mold on boxes after I reported it and took a lot of shite for telling the truth. People can say what they want... but this is effed up. I was in shipping for some years and have shipped plenty when selling things on eBay. Edit - No box that was packed properly with Bubble, Popcorn, or Brown Paper should have been crushed that way. The accordion crush and the shade of cardboard tell me how good of a grade the cardboard is

When I said PC was a shite show I should have elaborated. Since CI took over, their tobacco buyers have completely lost touch with what flakes and plugs are popular and have literally none of the good ones any longer. Years ago I was able to buy all my favorites in any quantity I wanted. I have already finished my cellar so it really doesn't effect me but for friends who are still building, they are a bunch of fucking clowns. No Dan Tobacco, one Peter Heinrich and it is a dog, one Fribourg and Treyer another dog, 3 Astleys and none of the good ones. They never have any Wessex or Samuel Gawith in stock. It is as if their buyers have no idea what people want or they just don't care. Plus I will never forgive them for losing my entire purchase history. Do I still use them, sure if something is on sale like pipe cleaners or other supplies or whatever. I never cut off my nose to spite my face. That's why I gave them a new order for 1 pound of tobacco. That's all. I am hoping that can't be too messed up. Like you, my cellar is full with that. I have all the Sutliff Matches for this life and the next. And, as I mentioned, another company is willing to order for me.

Then use the other company and move on? Life's too short I got word of their being able to do so after I placed the order for the Hine's. Otherwise I would have done so.

No names, please... don't want to bad-mouth ANY pipe and tobacco retailer. Wouldn't it be okay if we good-mouthed those, we're very happy dealing with..? I buy my tobacco from two sellers only and I'm extremely satisfied with both. I really see no harm in naming them. If you have something good to say, say it. If you don't, don't.

I guess you would have to call or email, but nothing more complicated than SP. They also said they discussed handling more Sutliff Matches since there is a gaping hole where McC was Edit - Damnit, I just named a name!

Half a dozen get my business. One more than all the others though. Depends on what I am looking for.

I support my local B&M, which is excellent as well as several online stores. I have one primary online store and several others I use depending on availability and price. All I have used provide great service, but my primary provides the best.

sablebrush52 ”Online sales taxes get charged, and internet sales of tobacco eventually get banned.” Wait, did I miss something? Not yet, but it's only a matter of time until one of, or both of, those two things come to pass. The Supreme Court heard arguments last week about states being able to collect internet sales tax. Should hear something about it in a few months.

If I understand you correctly, this could mean that I'd be taxed twice, once by my state and once by the state in which the seller resides.

If I understand you correctly, this could mean that I'd be taxed twice, once by my state and once by the state in which the seller resides. That's possible. I always assume the non-truth that those who don't charge tax outright pay for it by formula when they count their sales. Often times when making a quick sale (family biz) would sell for an amount and then multiply the total by the proper fraction and get the amount to report. If SP or anyone else I buy from doesn't do that... then ooops

I could name names because I have had nothing but great service from every retailer online and local! It would seem I am in the minority on this. But I guess I wont, since Drama would prefer to keep the thread free of 'Drama' haha
I use three well known online sites for the majority of my purchases. I buy special items at my local B&M that are hard to find online as well as some bulk and tins of one-off trial runs. They also have as good of prices as any when it comes to pipes- Also I like the people and the atmosphere. I try to support them as much as I can, but I simply do not have the money to use them exclusively for the purpose of cellar-building.
I also use a couple sites for their proprietary blends. Lets just say Shortcut to Mushrooms is a must on my shelf.

No, you would get taxed once at the rate of the state in which you reside. A lot of B&M small businesses are supporting this because they feel that they are getting killed by internet sales. States are behind it because they're losing a lot of sales tax revenue.

Due to my location, horrific exchange rate, taxes and duties, I order a couple of times a year from any e-tailer offering reasonable pricing and hassle free shipping to the Dark Continent.
