adding my welcome from halfway between Buffalo & Rochester. Like above have mentioned....a great place to be & join the fray when you can.
I don't like to suggest much of anything, but if you do like "smokie" & "leather-like", some might suggest something along the lines of "mild English"...easy on the latakia for starters.

Im actually looking at some of the english blends now. Being new, I'm throwing some other blends in my cart to try as well. Staying within my personal allowance of course.

Welcome from the Mile High City! In regard to your username, are you a fan of Robert Frost? Sorry I missed that before. I am, somewhat. I read quite a bit in the afternoons and that poem has stuck with me for the last 12 years. And its right where I'm sitting right now in life. |

Also sounds to me like ypu will like English/Balkan blends. I recommend trying a bunch of Cornell & Diehl blends, lots of them in bulk, so you won't break the budget (too badly). For leathery tastes and aroma, try a dark fired Kentucky blend also.

I just got some mixture 965 and nightcap in the mail, along with a few others. After reading the reviews of nightcap I had to give it a try. When my box came, the whole boxed smelled like it when opened. I had a busy night and didnt get home until 10:00. I went out to my shed, filled about 3/4 a bowl, and LOVED the flavor of it. Being new, I'm sure I'm missing some of the notes of it, but I really enjoyed that first bowl full.
I havent tried the 965 yet, maybe later on after some work in the garden.
I was looking at some of thr C&D blends earlier this week. Almost bought a few but figured I'd stick with the different english blends I picked out for the moment to get a better idea of what I like. C&D had an overwhelming number of blends.
Off to the store to get some more jars.
