Just a new pipe smoker with a lot to learn.
Im 35 years old and just picked up my first pipe a couple of days ago. Ive been a tobacco user (cigarettes that I quit a year ago, and occasional cigars) for around 20 years. I remember the first time I smelled my "great uncle's" pipe burning when I was 8 years old. That scent, black cherry, has stuck with me my whole life.
Ive lived a pretty hectic life and have been through many turbulant situations. Its just time to slow it all down, take it all in, and really enjoy it.
So, hello all, nice to meet you.

Welcome to the Patch, this place is full of those with lots of experience to help newcomers. I've been smoking a pipe a little over a year now and I wouldn't have made it without this place.

I have no idea what it was i just remember the smell. From what Ive read so far, neither of those appeal to me. Im also not a fan of "sweet" or "fruity" taste or smells.
Im looking for something smokey, leathery (if that makes sense), and strong. Theres other details I can imagine but can't quite figure out the words.
I'd rather start out with something decent than be put off of pipes because of tobacco that gave me a horrible experience.
