I found two cobs that I decided to grab from the local thrift shop. I grabbed them because I have never seen ones with a metal tenon and both of these have them. I figured at worst I could use the stems in other cobs. Was this a thing that MM did or were these replacement stems that somebody had done? If MM, when did they do this (date wise)? Thanks.

I got one like that a few years back. MM did the original metal tenon, Has a nice sturdy bit, too.

Stems need some work but that is a piece of cake. The shanks are nice and beefy on both pipes.

I have a pair as well. The bottom is marked: Original and they have hardwood plugs.
