Just received some new blends today. C&D for the most part, Byzantium, haunted bookshop, Old Joe Krantz, Big n burley and a cult blend - conspiracy. Which should I fire up first?

I just sent john_r some Old Joe Krantz. Wasn't my cup of tea - maybe he has tried it already.

OJK gets better with age...fine fresh, but a good one to cellar.

I believe before they broke off into the red, white, and blue colors (I think there is a blue labeled tin), OJK used to have that plain faded kind of whitish label. So, the original OJK blend is now in the brown labeled tin (correct me if I'm off on this)...

Byzantium because it's one of the best Balkans out there. Smooth, not acrid and a lovely leathery campfire flavor.

Do a bowl or two of Bookshop to get ready for Old Joe. Good stuff. That's my input as well. Haunted Bookshop is good, Old Joe Krantz is even better, IMHO. I haven't tried the other two, but Pegasus is one that you may want to try if you haven't already.

I've got an 8 oz tin sitting here on my desk.

Cult is my fav go to blend! I haven't tried any Cult tobacco yet, but understand that it's very good. I'm not crazy about some of their tin art, but then, "you can't judge a book by it's cover".

It's not the quality of the artwork, which is very good for all of them. I'm just not keen on skulls, devil's tridents, and the like, i.e., Abacus, Blood Red Moon.

Names and art that I wouldn't have thought twice about forty years ago I just won't accept now. Call me a prude, but I don't support names like Devil's Holiday, Cult - Anything, etc. Things I would have done for a nickel fifty years ago a million would not entice me today, and I could use a million. My final career was in printing. Our company got an account to print labels for one of those Island Clubs like Hedonism or something. One of the labels had a lion with large boobs being humped by a male. Other than the boobs that was it... and they were lion boobs for crying out loud. The workers refused to work on them and the company gave up the account. No judgment. Just sayin
