Okay, so my favorite shape is the 904, but I happened to pick up a 114 and I like the size of that bowl. It's my go-to when I want a longer smoke. So, for those of you in the know, does Savinelli have any bent pipes with a bowl size comparable to the 114? I've been watching a 606, and wondered if it would have a comparable bowl size.

Do the retailers not give bowl dimensions in their listing or do you mean the outside dimensions too?

For reference...Margaret's 114 bowl should have the following dimensions:
Chamber Depth: 1.84 in. / 46.62 mm. Bowl Outside Diameter: 1.53 in. / 38.97 mm. Bowl Inside Diameter: 0.89 in.
Margaret...the 604 is close, but I believe the inside diameter on the 604 is slightly more narrow.

The same here and if I do need them, I've forgotten them. I read somewhere that there is supposed to be a thread about your Savinelli Binge, but I can't seem to find it. As I like Savinelli pipes a lot, I'd love to read it.

oh wow, i don't remember at the moment, it could have been several threads, actually, that happened close together (and brother, I do mean CLOSE together) but it might be in the "What's in the Mail" thread. I'll go take a gander....

Shape 614 might be of interest. It's bent and the bowl size is slightly larger than the 114. It's a beautiful-looking shape and I have a Sea Coral in the mail, just as soon as next month's pension hits my bank account.

Ye Gods..! What a Savinelli treat. You sure got a great collection of severe beauties, I'd say. They're all great, but I especially like those 904s; a very elegant shape; it does remind me of a couple of old Kriswills, I have. Those threads excited me so much, I just had to fill my La Mia Pipa no. S118A, with a helping of 'Aged Burley Flake', to calm down. Thanks again for the links.

Glad you enjoyed that! Now, if I just had the $$$ I would do another one. I went to check out the pipe shape you told me about and found a lovely Roma Lucite in that shape, as well as three others *sigh* Wonder if could find some buyers for my three large meerschaums....

That's the trouble in this little household... So many bautiful pipes to want and so little money. Then again, money spent on pipes, tobacco and books are always well spent. I once sold some pipes to finance the purchase of some others and I've regretted it ever since. From now on, I buy pipes, I don't sell them; much to DW's chagrin. We only smoke in the library/smoking den and she vetoed any pipes outside that room, but...

I understand what you are saying, but these are pipes I will never smoke. They are beautiful, but they are BIG, really too big for me. They should go to people who will smoke them and enjoy them.

I like small-bowled pipes and I like big-bowled pipes; it all depends on my mood. I have a Preben Holm, which is nicknamed 'The Bathtub' for a reason. With a suitably slow-burning tobacco, I can make a bowlful last for about 2½ - 3 hours. Great reading-pipe. If you know for a fact that you're never going to smoke those meerschaums, it shouldn't be hard to find them another good home, I can imagine.

It's nice to have options! I will have to post pictures, but it will be after the weekend. We are going to the cabin for our anniversary
