You make some good points on why and how anything smoking related was viewed differently when we were kids as opposed to now.
I wish that I could have tapped into the knowledge base available now at my fingertips back when I first took up the pipe in the early eighties, but it probably is good that I didn’t. I took a 25 year break from the pipe... had I enjoyed it back then as much as now, I might have made my kids cobble together their own shoes so as not to interfere with my pipe smoking revenue stream!

nice session at the chat last nite Jeff. We do get "off topic" at times but always welcome more or less "newbies". Strength in numbers. Also nice to see somebody with "roots" fairly close to my area.

Yes it was great. Nice to meet everyone. I had friends in Alden and used to drive up, passing through your area. As you doubtless are aware and for the sake of out of towners, next to Alden, on Rt. 20, there is a tiny little town called Town Line. They way I heard it Town Line decided to secede from the Union during the Civil War. They, and everyone else, kind of forgot about it for 75 years or so, until the Truman presidency. Feeling they had to do something they wrote to Truman to ask how to join the country again and he said something like: are you sure? you might want to think about this a bit. |
