Revor Plug has been a favorite of mine from the first time I tried it. It's so smooth and satisfying! However, one aspect of this amazing smoke has always eluded me in terms of the flavor and mouth-feel. A small number of reviewers have indicated they sense some Latakia in there and, at first, I had to agree. After smoking it daily for the last few days though, I've changed my mind. Rather than being Latakia, I believe that the sweet topping they use is combining with the smoky dark fired to produce this phenomenon. It almost seems similar, in part, to the topping in Kendal Cream Deluxe but with more sweetness.
For those of you that have spent time with this blend ... what are your thoughts? Have you tasted what I'm talking about?

Have you tasted what I'm talking about? It was my most recent intention to espouse the tasteful merits and similarities of SG Kendal Cream Deluxe Flake as likened to Revor Plug. As you say, Revor Plug gets sweeter, but overall is a kissing cousin to Kendal Cream in most respects... both smoke beautifully, billowy, and cool.

...for years, Manchester Tobacco made Revor...it was stronger and could take your breath away, if not careful...still G&H does a fine job of the current version and I'm glad its still available...

I love the stuff and wish it was available in the US. I have a decent stock courtesy of friends in England. My other favorite plugs have disappeared so I hope Revor continues to soldier on. It deserves more attention from the pipe community.

Must be one of these Ph chemistry issues with me and Revor. Nice flavor, I find it kinda like ODF with a topping. I smoke a lot of latakia, and I don't notice that I it, but I do get a sharp astringency from it for some reason that I don't particularly like. Oh well.

I've tried Revor and found it was similar to Black Irish Twist but much more sweeter. I don't think I've ever detected Latakia in it.

Not detecting a Lat essence exactly... it's more of a smokey flue-cured/dark fired Kentucky that flickers in and out ever so lightly by my reckoning. I can imagine that the light Lakeland Virginia's are so well balanced with the Kentucky that taken together they evoke a sense of Latakia albeit not at all incense-like. Not saying Lat leaf is not actually there, and it very well could be, though GH doesn't list it. Such a beautiful tobacco, with all it's mystery. Definitely a Hall-of-Famer in my book of World Classics.

...sometimes I do detect a Latakia type flavor/aroma...then other times I don't...when I visited G&H I was told that because the equipment is so old and can't be replicated they use the same cutting and spinning equipment for all their pipe tobacco and therefore some flavor from previous batches is imparted in whatever their production schedule is currently...SG tells me the very same thing...
