The panels and grain on bottom and shank make that a unique one, more unique than many. I hope you enjoy it.

+1 to that. I hope it's a good smoker.

Nice choice. It must have been difficult to make with all those panels.

Just noticed the partial rustication. I like it...although in my head I can picture the pipe-maker starting to sand the pipe and hearing, 'dinner's ready'.

...and coming back from dinner, stuffed to the gills "...now, where was I..? Oh, yes. The rustication"."

Congratulations. It's a great-looking pipe and I'm convinced that it smokes as well as it looks. My Winsløw does and so shall yours.

I have been as far north as Kiel but never made it over the border into Denmark. Although, I once owned a Nordic Folkboat built in Odense in 1949. BTW, nice looking pipe. Let us know how it smokes.

I'm guessing the rustication is actually wire-carving (pipe applied to a very coarse spinning wire-wheel) as Dr. Grabow used to do their Starfire, Berwyck, Westbrook and other vintage lines...it looks exactly like that. I really like that it's only "partially" wire-carved. Very nice acquisition.

That pipe is tactical. With firearms it is commonplace to do "stippling", call it rustication on the gun where your hands come into contact with the gun so that you have a purchase on it, That pipe has that feature, while enjoying the visual appeal of some nice, tight grain. An Archaic usage that gunners use. ( Purchase:a hold or position on something for applying power advantageously, or the advantage gained by such application.)I think that you will have a great advantage smoking that pipe...I like it. Contrast that with Lee van Cleef...smooth grips and smooth pipe...he thinks he is a smooth character. That pipe with my Ruger...I think you could take him.
