If you haven't had the pleasure of enjoying a glass or three of one of these, I can't recommend it enough! The stout cask gives a wonderfully light chocolate note that reminds me exactly of that little bit of chocolate in my favorite tobacco blends! Pairs well with Nightcap. www.thewhiskyexchange.com/p/31012/jameson-caskmates-stout-edition

I'll be on the hunt for this today. Thanks for bringing it to our attention.

It's tough to beat the price on a bottle of this. I'm on my second bottle! I think I still prefer a nice offensive, peaty scotch, but when the scotch runs north of $70 and the Jamo runs under $30...it's hard to say no. The only problem is that I have a regular bottle of Jameson looking at me sideways every time I reach past her to grab her younger, hotter sister

This whiskey is regularly in my rotation and is probably my favorite Jameson blend. They also make an IPA version.

I saw pictures of the IPA Jameson, but I'm a little afraid to try it. Haha! I love a nice summertime IPA, but I've never put much thought into marrying it with a whiskey.
Has anyone tried it? I can't find it around me.

Do you recommend a tobacco to smoke with this?

I find Irish whisky to taste too much like Canadian whisky (double distillation). Basically, not enough flavor. But this sounds like it might taste more like an american style cask aged whisky.

Well, Irish whiskey is actually usually aged in bourbon cask but this is still triple distilled and very easy going. It is not really anything like bourbon. It's really more like Guinness. Lol

Do you recommend a tobacco to smoke with this? I think any Balkan blend would work, but I've been enjoying it with Balkan Sasieni. Honestly, I mainly smoke my own blends since I really got into it. A heavy burley, latakia, perique (and a little VA and oriental to keep things honest) blend really hits the sweet spot for me.

I bought a second bottle today to stash at the B&M. Good stuff and works well with a robust cigar.

I bought a bottle of the Jameson Caskmates Stout and was impressed. I liked it better than the regular Jameson and went to buy a second bottle but the store was out. Picked up a bottle of Sexton Single Malt Irish instead for $26. Sexton doesn't have the same stout notes but then again, it's triple distilled and aged in Olorosa sherry casks. I like it better than Jameson regular.
Did some research on it and found out it's distributed by Proximo and is produced in the same distillery as Bushmills. Proximo owns the distillery also.

I'm on my third bottle of this - they changed labels a while back and bottles with the old version went on sale for as low as $17. But strangely, my appreciation for it is sliding with each bottle. Not sure if it's me or the bottlings (probably the former), but I've gone from rating it a sold 3.5 stars to 2.
