I am going to spend my 100th post extolling the virtues of Christopher Morley. I am now reading The Haunted Bookshop which is a light fun really fun read.
When I read Christopher Morley I get the feeling that I would enjoy sitting with him over a pipe or two. Really smart and incisive but doesn't take himself, or anything else, too seriously.

I have a copy of The Haunted Bookshop on my bookshelf and really need to remember to read it. I could use a little light reading for a change.

observation (no criticism). . . . shouldn't this thread be merged with the same titled thread in The Library?

A wonderful book to read while smoking.
An Old Woman's Reflections - The Life of a Blasket Island Storyteller by Peig Sayers
Lots of delightful quick little stories. You can take in as many as you have time for. Like M&Ms

I did not.Thank You ! You're most welcome. Note that this won't work for everyone. It depends on the mouse driver you have loaded. But yes, if you have a mouse with the scroll wheel, and the right driver, then you can set it up to do this. I use a MS keyboard with a scroll wheel, which didn't work until last month when I finally loaded the driver.

I usually listen to audio books, because when I am reading, my wife realizes that I am not paying attention to her. She was out of town for the weekend, so I finished the Autobiography of David Crockett, the latest in the After Cilmeri time travel series, and the latest Brandon Sanderson Novella, Snapshot. I have discovered that I can read a book in about 1/4 the time as listening to the audio books. Now if I only had the time, I could catch up.

I never installed the driver that came with the mouse; I just use the one that comes with Windows and it works like a charm.

Just finished Penelope Fitzgerald's novel, The Bookshop. It is a wonderful read, not very long, but fun to dilly dally among the sentences. Warning, it is also heartbreaking. I wish it weren't bit it is. Worth every tear. Every single damn tear. I had never read any of her books before. I am a fan now. Read this book, let your heart break, laugh, cry and be more alive as a result. There is no pipe smoking in the book, but the book sure encourages one to smoke pipe.

I'm currently reading The Haunted Bookshop by Christopher Morley and Making Sense Out of Suffering by Peter Kreeft. I'm really enjoying the former and getting a lot out of the latter.

Reading the third book in the "Wheel of Time" series by Robert Jordan. I have not enjoyed any books of this genre for at least 30 years. This series has me addicted.

Thank you Gentlemen for your concern.I do have a few audio books and have listened to some really good ones in the past.Problem is I'm married and the Mrs doesn't always like what I like. (Silly Women) And she seems to think I want to talk alot,go figure. We have some really FUN times.Seriously we do.Spent 8 hours last week watching the first season of Dr Who. I believe that I am hearing sarcasm in that last statement.

I am currently reading "Stories of Texas and Most of Them are True". This is a great book written by a native Texan for native Texans. It really opened my eyes to the way that I speak when around other native Texans. Discusses Texas regional dialects and tells the story of a lot of things that I grew up with and didn't know the details. Also a great primer on how Texans really think, not what you get from the movies and MSM. Also reading "The Stars My Destination" by Alfred Bester, a very deep Science Fiction story from 1959. On top of that, "Coyote Medicine" about Native American healing. So many books, so little time.

I'm at the point where I wear reading glasses all the time and use a magnifying glass for reading.I've a 42 inch monitor and have to sit about a foot away to read the forums.Add to that I'm blind in one eye. But,about a year ago I did struggle thru Stephen King's 11/22/1966,I could be wrong about the title.First book I had read in about 3 years at that time. I've some Sherlock essays on my tablet that I peruse at times, but on that I can zoom in easier. thebriarpatchforum.com/board/13/libraryThis would be the sub-forum you were looking for 11/22/63. The day JFK was killed.

The fallen series by Wayne Stinett are some of the most enjoyable reads. Great characters and adventures in the Florida keys. If you ever liked John McDonald books you will really like Stinett’s books. Warning..once you read one you’ll end up buying the entire series.
