Since I just got back into this 6 months ago, my tiny "cellar" contains only 7 pounds of tobacco. I find I am drawn to flake cut tobaccos. 1. Kolhase and Kopp (Astley's, Rattray's, Fribourg & Treyer, Wessex). These flakes make up about 60% of what I have collected so far. 2. G. L. Pease (Quite fond of Quiet Nights and Chelsea Morning, and his Drucquer & Sons line). 3. Dunhill (been stocking up on EMP). 4. Sam G (have a few tins of Squadron Leader stashed away).

Sounds like you're off to a good start! Have you explored any Virginias or Va/Pers? It's good to have some variety, as your tastes may change over time, and then change again. I keep a good variety on hand for that reason.

The wife is going to Virginia to visit her sister for a week, next weekend I am going to do a cellar inventory. Well I pulled it all out, I don't think that there is going to be an inventory...that would be a royal PITA...I think it is all about organizing for now..or ever...I found a couple pounds of McClellands 2010 and 2015 i didn't know I had..I am not bragging, I know that this pales by far in comparison to other's cellars, but in 4 years I collected this 12 ft. by 4 foot pathway of tobacco...more like admitting to a sickness. "my Name is Charlie and I am a tobaccoholic, I have it under control though..."

You could participate in the monthly reviews by just digging thru your stock, it's bound to be there every month!

I'm close to where you are and I have been smoking for under a year and a half. Your post actually put that in perspective more than when I reorganized my own tobacco recently.

First Place has gotta be McClelland, but that is only because of the frenzied rush to grab a lifetime's supply all at one go..
Second/Third is neck and neck between Hearth & Home and Dunhill.

McClelland's, followed by Sutliff, then Wilke. I would like Wilke to be #1, but it is expensive.

Old Joe Krantz - daily smoke for me. Not had that yet, what's it like? If you like Laphroaig scotch, you should like OJK. I love both, in moderation.

Keeping track of your tobac to that detail resembles work. Agreed. That amount of labor could be put to better use creating new pipes. 😈

Ah, the good old days. And it cost a one time payment of $35. We used to process 300k paychecks for 2000 companies every week on an Excel database. A Microsoft Excel "expert" said that it wasn't possible, in spite of the evidence. We did have to arch weekly to keep the DB size down.

Seriously though- I don't even open my shipments in front of friends... I try to explain the point of a cellar and current state of the market and the fact that if I wanna try a blend, I have to buy the tin now while it's still made or before it's $35 like it is in Europe, but my friends break my balls regardless. haha

Since I average 2-3 bowls a day, and I really like everything I have it would be pointless to buy more.... I am sure that I will pick up some here and there.... certainly Macbarens’s latest two releases.
My guns and ammo stash was pretty much finished before I took up the pipe, thank God for that.... ammo has gotten a lot more expensive, my last gun with optics was almost 3k.
Maybe it is time to move on to a whiskey and Scotch celllar next..
Alcohol, Tobacco and Firearms..... like Woodsroad, I seem to gravitate towards things others demonize or regulate.

I also collect guns and I'm really glad that I found a place to feel satiated on that front. It can be a really expensive hobby. I'm lucky that I have the most fun with shotguns, 9mm, and my plinkers- so far as ammo prices go.

You and me both, brother, although my collection of the first is nil, the second modest, and the third small. If I suddenly inherited millions, one room of my new Tudor style house would be filled with pipe tobacco, another with antique firearms and books, and the multi-car garage with antique automobiles.

If our taxes and fees were as high as the rest of the world, my cellar would also probably be a drawer... It would be hard to justify a cellar when so much of the cost just lines the governments pockets.
