Do we drink a certain drink to enhance the flavor of our pipe smoke, the other way around?
I am not real sure what way this works but I do find a good coffee and english blend <Maltise Falcon GLP> goes very well togather.
I find my self in the evenings gravitating towards that combo.

And I like the coffee to be just off hot down to room temperature. It happened by accident years ago by smoking and neglecting my coffee, and has been a reliable coupling ever since. I have tried other things, whisky tastes bad to me while smoking, even a whisky I love. Carbonated beverages are out. I have sometimes opened a can of ginger ale and let it go flat. That is a kind of nice pipe chaser. Better than flat coke IMO. And cold water is pretty good too. But the best is coffee. Good coffee. |

I tried milk when I first started out to cool the tongue and hopefully stop tongue-bite. But I found that the milk took any bitterness out of the smoke and kinda smoothed it out a bit. It's my go-to drink now. I sometimes have other drinks, but more often than not, milk.
To answer your question, I would drink milk to enhance my smoke and not the other way around.

Normally try and range of beverages with each tobacco until I find out what one suits best, then the tobacco becomes Morning (Coffee), lunch (Black tea), evening (beer) before bed (Bourbon or Whisky)

Coffee with Burley is great. Black or green tea with Virginias. Cold ginger ale with any tobacco.

About six months (Maybe more) ago, I started drinking tea while smoking. It’s not something I normally drink, but I found it enhanced my smoke.

I think for me the drink enhances the smoking. It cleanses the palate and makes the next puff as delicious as the first.
That said I dearly love my coffee. Thank goodness coffee is not illegal.

Strong black and unsweetened coffee or cool water is my pipe smoking companion.
Cigars are another matter.
