A truly classical " movie " climax of old Sherlocke, Ian McKellen in great form a truly excellent actor. A lyrical story of Mr Holmes seeking health in his retirement, amidst sleuthing and a Japanese twist, Bravo ! More ! I have watched twice and after More! .,.

I intend to view this as well. One never tires of the "great detective".

It is one of my wife and favorite movies, going to watch it again tonight. Ian McKellen nailed it as the very old Sherlock. I wish he would have made some Sherlock movies earlier in his career.

Alright, this time I'll try not to hijack your thread.
This is probably my favorite iteration of Sherlock Holmes in film and the film itself is quite beautiful. My only warning to people considering watching this is that it is a slow, delicately paced film. That said, I have few, if any, complaints about this film.

So how does it compare to the series when Jeramy Britt played Holmes as a neurotic and intense person? I always thought Britt nailed Holmes with his edginess.

Without giving a spoiler, it is not the traditional Holmes, but a story of an aged , retired Holmes looking back on his life, tying up some knots, closing some plots and finding a peaceful old age.
