I just tried this on the recommendation of folks on this site, and I find that I really kind of like it.
I am new to aromatics, and I see they have there time and place.
Abacus is a little different to my taste because it doesn't taste specifically of anything sweet or strong. It has a very nice general flavor.
The biggest advantage though, is that of all the tobaccos I have tried, it has the best smell, the (hate this term) room note. It would make a fantastic hot potpourri. I want to invent a smoking machine and just have this stuff smoldering in the living room. So nice.
I am confident that anyone who objects to your smoking indoors will be converted if you smoke a little Abacus now and then.
Its like this old ad:

Thanks for the info. Just curious if the hazelnut is pronounced in the flavor?

You know, I don't taste it myself. I recognize hazelnut because of my love of Ferrero Rocher. But no specific taste like that comes to my experience.

I'll have to pick some of this up. I've only tried Blood red moon and conspiracy but I loved them both.

Strangely good stuff, I agree. And I couldn't identify specific flavors, either. It's not that it's really unusual or anything - it's just addictively good. It's what you wished 1Q was.

@chico makes a good point. In smoking a few Cult selections, they frequently echo some popular Lane bulks, but with an added dimension.

My new pipe coming in the mail will be dedicated to aromatics. Maybe tomorrow.

This is one of the ones I've been wondering about and wanting to try. I've been looking for that amazingly good smelling tobacco that just draws people in. So far as a new smoker I'm liking 1Q quite a bit but i find anything I've tried smells great in the bag or tin, but when smoking it its just the smell of a heavy smoke and nothing really reminiscent of what it smelled like before it was burning in the pipe. If anyone has any other suggestions or knows of a good thread on here pointing me towards great smelling aromatics id be greatly appreciative as it would probably help out my cause with my wife

Haven't a clue why. I've been with people smoking the same blend as me and when I smell the smoke coming from their pipe it smells so much better than when I'm smoking my own pipe. As for tasting... As others know, all I taste is smoke. I can't detect any of the nuances, unless there's latakia present - I can detect that.

I’ve smoked Cult Blood Red Moon, Abacus and Profile and surprisingly I enjoy smoking all 3 👍👍👍. Smokingpipes has been out of Profile for months and I was told it might not be back on the shelves. Another Cult that our government dismantled most likely with FDA regulations!!! Glad I purchased a few tins of each.

You won’t be disappointed with any of the three I’ve tried so far, for if you are, you just can’t lose because I’d buy them from you! Blood Red Moon is like no other cherry tobacco you’ve had the pleasure of smoking.....it’s way above all the rest 👍👍👍. Cult Profile & Conspiracy are gone and may not be back.

I've heard good stuff about this tobacco. I wish this one was available in the UK (and all cult for that matter).

Working my way through tin of Cult Militia and find it quite good. Overall, their tobaccos seem to not only be marketed well, but crafted well, too.

They're backordered on P&C, and they usually don't backorder unless they're expecting more. The entire Cult line was introduced post-2007, so if one goes they'll all go. Unless they choose only certain blends to go through the regulation process. Or unless the law doesn't actually come into effect.... It's all speculation so far.

I know they're made by Lane/STG but they clearly had a theme in mind when they came out with the line, beyond just the marketing as you say. I also wonder if the tobaccos used are actually any better than the typical Lane products, or if the result are mainly from blending and topping. In the two I've tried (Abacus and Conspiracy) the topping is very prominent and central to the blend but not goopy at all and doesn't overwhelm the tobacco. Maybe they're using a new kind of flavoring?

Was told over 3 months ago from a pipe smoker that works @ Smokingpipes that there is a possibility Cult will not be back. I really hope it’s just a shortage of a particular leaf they’re waiting for 👍

To add to the choices H.I.S has a selection of Wardens for a reasonable price.
In my collection I have a Nording, Jobey and an H.I.S briar wardens. I also have all 4 Cobbits.
