We had a good meeting again last night with 3 new members in attendance. We gave out 18 door prize tickets with the top prize, a leather tobacco pouch from Monjure International going to Lana Mosely.
We had a surprise guest at the meeting last night also. Michael Matherne, one of the St. James Perique growers brought some hand cut 100% Perique from a 2015 barrel. The perique still had a slight ammonia scent to it but it was interesting to smoke the real stuff and not the Green River burley.
Our total membership count stands at 35. Now we just have to work on getting everyone to show up at the same time.

Sounds like a great meeting. That's a good number of numbers you've got too!

35 members is impressive indeed!
How long have you guys been meeting Pappyjoe?
Since I got a website for the Azipeclub, Facebook page and give shout outs on other facebook pipe smoking sites we have seen real growth...we have the same experiecne though, we never get everyone together for one meeting and due to my brain flatulence, I forgot to add a guy to my email distribution list and he stopped coming..we have that fixed though. A lot of people in Phoenix travel a lot for work and vacation, so that is a dynamic we deal with.

Sounds like a good time. We have a little pipe club in Knoxville but have a problem getting new members.

A lot of people in Phoenix travel a lot for work and vacation, so that is a dynamic we deal with. It started with 5 or 6 guys getting together back in 2014 when one of them was planning the New Orleans Pipe Show we held in 2015. The meetings gradually grew in size until we were averaging 10 people per meetings. Last summer we voted to become an official club with a charter, officers and get listed as a non-profit LLC. We officially became a "Club" in December 2015. I was elected president because Toby Ducote - who started the club - has to travel too much with his work. We were meeting at various restaurants which had outside smoking areas until December when the new Mayan Imports in Metairie opened with two indoor smoking lounges and a covered patio. They invited us to hold the meetings there. Since then we've been averaging about 18 people in attendance. Some don't join but I've taken usually one or two applications per meeting. We also have to deal with a lot of people who travel a lot but it all seems to be working out. We don't have an actual website but we have our facebook group and post notices on other social media.
