I almost missed this in my trashmail account, I am guessing that everyone received the same email. Jeff Bezos is down to his last 132 billion...help a brother out!

Worth the extra $20 for the amount of free shipping and movie streaming we do.
However, I have to agree that they don't NEED any more of my money!

I agree, I will suck it up, I will easily recoup the $20.00 on your points mentioned. I remember when a neighbor of mine ws telling me how great this start up company was, you order a book online and you have it within one to two days max. "Yeah, big deal"...in so many words I said that here today gone tomorrow. What a visionary I am.

What wrankles me, is that this sets a precedent. It has only been slightly over a year since the increase to $99.00 - Now it will be a yearly bump, just like the Post Office . . . . remember when the cost of a stamp was reasonable?

$20.00 X existing Prime membership, man that's a lot of dough. With Amazon's venture into the grocery biz, it would seem that Prime members will be the cash hedge against possible failure. I hate being manipulated (and being marketed to at the same time).

There is a point of diminishing return, that is for sure and although I can justify it now, not so sure in the future.

I used to be a member of Prime when I was taking classes at a local community college - got it at the student rate, about half price. But I don't buy enough merchandise or watch enough of their streaming media to justify it. I appreciate it that they offer the free super saver shipping for purchases over a certain amount; girlfriend and I just put together an order just a few minutes ago and got free shipping.

start off low and raise the gate (price) when you have all the suckers penned up.

start off low and raise the gate (price) when you have all the suckers penned up. A lot of truth in that statement. The auto insurance companies constantly rope people in with lower premiums, then creep them up. Ameriprise through Costco is the first one I have had that hasn't done it. Once people get used to the convenience of getting things so easily online and everyone does so while the brick and mortars wither, the golden rule takes effect, he who has the gold, rules. Walmart sure sucked the wind out of a lot of mom and pops, now Amazon has cut into a lot of Walmart's bottom line.

Amazon cloud had unlimited online storage for $50 a year so I spent a month backing up my database to it. 6 months later they were chargin $50 for each 500 gigs or so. Amazon music let you load your own music to play over the cloud then decided they wouldn't let you load any of your own music a year later. They do it with every service.

You can share an account with a family member and split the costs. They'll deliver to 2 addresses and both can use the video. Still, that's a stiff increase.

Funny, it was when I started using amazon prime that my online purchases went through the roof... But that was more a matter of convenience. Previously, if I needed something fast (but not immediately) I would have got in the car and driven to a shop.
So while it looks like my amazon purchases have rocketed (and they have), my purchases elsewhere have plummeted... Thankfully.
I'm in the category of those who actually get what they pay for. I use amazon a lot. I also have prime music unlimited.

I've made so much from amazon stock that it's hard to complain. I do have too much junk filling up my closets/pantry that I otherwise would not have bought were it not for prime and S&S. If Amazon sold tobacco and booze I'd be in trouble.

Well, I chose Not to Renew. When I heard that Mr Beelzebub makes $20,000 a Second, I decided not to pony up an additional $20.00.

Honestly, I order so much from Amazon, I still come out ahead even with the additional $20.00. I am likely one of those people who costs Amazon money on Prime. I am watching a documentary about Hammer Films right now, and I just ordered some more birdseed for the feeders outside. It might reach a point where it is too much for me, but I will pay the additional $20.00 for the convenience.

Yes, an understandable free choice. I just don't like the precedent it sets. Also, many vendors that have to compete with Prime offer free shipping.

Well, I chose Not to Renew. When I heard that Mr Beelzebub makes $20,000 a Second, I decided not to pony up an additional $20.00. Mike, I made a phone call to customer service and explained I’m disabled and on a fixed income. What they did for me was give me a $20.00 credit on any item sold & shipped by Amazon on my first purchase. I thought that was fair, so I’m still a member and take advantage of their Cloud Services and Prime Video. I’m very happy I renewed, especially when I’m not well enough to drive and I need some items I just can not live without. I’m a member for 5 plus years and had one issue with a third party seller, Amazon customer service resolved the issue immediately. Honestly, I have no complaints.

I cancelled my membership last year.
I don't mind waiting a few extra days for things I order, and I never use any other membership benefits.

I recoup the fees rather quickly in savings from shipping charges. I’m also fortunate that my Sister, who lives with me, splits the fee with me making it easier to justify paying the increased fee.

Seems unnecessary. They have so much business, they are putting Walmart under. Ten more years and people will only shop at B&Ms while on vacation..

I'm fortunate enough to say I won't miss twenty bucks a year. I would also say it's a great service, but anymore I have to wonder. Maybe I should get out of the house more and stop buying stuff I don't need. Not to mention, putting my money into my community for a change. I feel like he has enough of it.

And they say on the web that Amazon ends up not paying hardly any taxes? Something is really wrong in this country.

And they say on the web that Amazon ends up not paying hardly any taxes? Something is really wrong in this country. They pay 0% to hardly nothing in taxes. They arent alone though. Many large companies pay nearly nothing to even zero in taxes due loopholes and manipulation of laws and codes. Wealthy individuals do it too if they can afford the right accountant.

You guys are funny. Go ahead and start paying 10-15$ for shipping on all your packages again. We'll see how long you complain about Prime fees.

I seldom buy from Amazon and then it is usually from one of their vendors.
That said, I respect what Bezos created. Naturally, I gripe about taxes not paid and the rest of the criticisms which need not be repeated here. I prefer ebay vendors or other smaller independents.
If I bought more from Amazon and used wireless internet more, it might be a sensible deal.
