Thanks Dino! They pulled the tube, he can finally talk. He said that he thought that he was going to die on the way to the hospital, he coughed up three bags of blood throwing them out the window. Passing cars in rush hour with his flashers on... some cars thought he was being an A-hole and tried to block him from passing on the right... some moved out of his way when they saw his bloody arm and blood on the door. The cops saw him and waved him on as he sped through an area where a hazmat wreck took place. He got the the VA ER, stumbled in and gave his bloody keys to the VA cop on duty and immediately coughed up three more bags of blood. Everyone on staff agrees that it is remarkable he survived... I know that he received at least 3 pints in a transfusion. Doing much better now. Wow!! Talk about getting there in nick of time!!! I'm so glad he's heading in the right direction now. That reminds me... I need to give blood.

That reminds me... I need to give blood. Me, too. I do it when they set up a blood drive at my work, but they aren't regular about it. Figure it's the least I can do. Times like this just drive home the importance of it.

Same here, I used to give regularly, but I stopped giving because of the redundant questions and screening process before donating...for a drop in visit here, it could be a two hour ordeal, later on a friend of mine told me that the CEO of the local blood collection organization was getting pretty rich, and the employees were pretty underpaid.
I get the need to protect the integrity of the pool, but it seemed such an onerous task.
This though hits really close to home, I need to do my homework and figure it all out, and find a way to donate in a more efficient manner.
My son donated a bag of blood onto the hood of the two hood rat women that assumed he was being a driving dirtbag by trying to get around them on the right...the woman driver almost hit him and gave some sort of hood rat sign to him.

They certainly have protocols in place. I fielded his cell phone and keys from his personal bag, they were in a Biohazard ziploc bag, because they had blood on them. I told him that I was sad to tell him that I had to incinerate his Iphone 10 and his smartkeys...couldn't risk an infection. I guess you can receive an honorable discharge, but the marine attitude stays.

Late to this but I'm glad things are going well now. I give my best wishes and hope for a speedy recovery. And a huge thank you to him... and any of you who were, or are in the military... for his and your service.

Glad to hear that it sounds like he's on the road to recovery!
I am familiar with the almost bleeding out thing, did it myself. 8 units of blood pushed (and I mean pushed) into me between two ERs in three days before they got the gastric bleed under control.

I hope we can meet up some day to trade restaurant stories.... it is a ripe field for that.

The VA ship has a new captain, and he seems to be trying his best to get it turned around. Glad to hear that they're taking good care of your son.

Was a scary time, glad that my wife had the sense and wherewithall to get my just about toasted backside to the hospital the second time.
Absolutely, I would enjoy meeting up with you some day and trade war stories and partake in a few bowls!
How is your boy doing?

I am glad he made it to the hospital in time and was saved. Close one!
Sorry about his traffic experience. People just do not understand that a vehicle attempting to pass with lights flahing might have someone inside with a problem trying to get to hospital. Been on those wild rides myself. This being remote area, takes too long for EMTs to get here. So, we head out towards town and hope to meet the ambulance on the highway to transfer the patient. I have had to make a 50 mile run to the hospital with a guy in the passenger seat and his wife kneeling on the floor of the back seat holding the bandages and keeping him upright. Low on gas, praying to make it. Middle of the night. Whizzing through a small town at 60 MPH, the town cop trailing me the rest of the way to the hospital. He was not pleased and advised me to leave that kind of driving to an emergency vehicle with proper lights and sirens. He was right and I will not do that again.

Thanks guys, he has been released and is doing much better, that artery that was damaged really did a number on him.
He is hoping to get back to work by the end of the week, he has to be cleared 100% to work Waymo is pretty strict about things of this nature.
