Did a screen grab of these tobaccos from TR. So here is my question. SP and Mars show this with the green label, but no mention of Perique on the label. SP lists it as having Virginia and Perique. Mars says it does not contain Perique, but still shows the picture with the green label (although without the mention of Perique on the label--identical to the picture on the SP website). Another retailer shows a picture of the bronze tin and says it is straight Virginia. So is the tobacco in the bronze tin identical to the tobacco in the green tin (without the mention of Perique)?

Some confusion/influence with those new labeling laws, perhaps? Both variants could be old stock awaiting replacement of the new mandated standards. Not too helpful on my part I know, but I found the post interesting.

Kolhase & Kopp has this problem with McConnell blends, too. I don't know if it's due to changes in blends or just bad info.

There's something a little fishy about all of this. The green label "with perique" pictured on TR has 0 reviews and the label has a clear patch, like a sticker that has "With Perique" added to it, which doesn't appear anywhere else. Marcigars says that the mixture used to have Perique in it and now no longer does. Smokingpipes says etc., etc.
None of these sources is always accurate. The TR entry is really suspect because it has no reviews, a possibly "faked" label, and if it's the original version, as Marscigars suggests, it should have reviews on TR. Marscigars often uses out-of-date images for its products and makes mistakes with its listings as does Smoking Pipes, as does, Pipes & Cigars, etc.
Welcome to the world of pipes, where informational sloppiness is the norm. The answer to your question is, who knows? The sellers don't. I don't. Anyone answering your question who isn't the manufacturer does not know either. Maybe the people supervising its production know, but I wouldn't even bet on that. It's something of a miracle that what you're smoking is actual tobacco, and not some other leaf that got into the tin.

Welcome to the world of pipes, where informational sloppiness is the norm. Does this mean manufacturers really don't use Cyprian Latakia sprayed with artificial Syrian Latakia flavoring in their Syrian blends? That's got to be the screwiest pipe smoker's rumor I've heard.

That claim was on Facebook IIRC. There's nothing special about the pipe smoking population. They're just people who happen to smoke a pipe. So some will be reliable, expert, smart and/or honest, and others will be quite the opposite.
