It is always a sad day for me, like to be by myself, smoking my favorite pipe and pondering, not much for parades, lost some buddies and hope we who return are honoring their memories.

So sad to see that society will never advance to end wars.

So sad to see that society will never advance to end wars. That would be awesome, but man at his very nature wants to control and dominate his fellow man, microscopically compared to war, but we see it in the people that think it is their duty to wage war against tobacco.

So sad to see that society will never advance to end wars. Were there two people left on this planet; one on the northern hemisphere and one on the southern hemisphere, they'd meet at the equator and fight it out.

We do have something in Denmark, called 'Flagdagen' (The Flag Day) where we honour those who served and serve in the Danish Armed Forces around the globe. It's on the 5th of September, a date I'm not likely to forget as it is my wedding day. Each year on the 5th of May, we honour the memory of those who gave their lives in the Danish Resistance Movement during the German occupation 1940-1945.

Yeah, the Danes had occupation thrust upon them, even though they wanted nothing to do with the nonsense... when the chips were down, they certainly rose to the occasion.

The movie, The Best Years Of Our Lives (1946) is a fitting tribute and a fine film to honor Memorial Day. The cast member, Harold Russell was a Vet and lost both hands in defense of Freedom.

Yeah, the Danes had occupation thrust upon them, even though they wanted nothing to do with the nonsense... when the chips were down, they certainly rose to the occasion. There were minor acts of resistance starting shortly after the 9th of April 1940 and various sabotage acts in 1942, but it really took off when the government's collaboration with the Germans ended on the 29th of August 1943, as the government stepped down.

Remembering my oldest brother, Hal, who served in Vietnam and died as a result of exposure to Agent Orange.
Remembering three of my uncles, who served gallantly during WWII, two in the south Pacific and one as a tank commander under Patton.

I find this an appropriate poem, hopefully you all will as well... www.flandersfieldsmusic.com/thepoem.htmlIn Flanders fields the poppies blow Between the crosses, row on row, That mark our place: and in the sky The larks still bravely singing fly Scarce heard amid the guns below.
We are the dead: Short days ago, We lived, felt dawn, saw sunset glow, Loved and were loved: and now we lie In Flanders fields!
Take up our quarrel with the foe To you, from failing hands, we throw The torch: be yours to hold it high If ye break faith with us who die, We shall not sleep, though poppies grow In Flanders fields
