This straight Virginia consists of dark and light brown, very long flakes. I estimate it’s length is similar to a standard hardcover book. The flakes come very wet and I recommend drying them.
I sense hay, grass and wet earth. They can be folded and stuffed, or rubbed out. Either works well, but a loose pack is recommended.
I’ve smoked it in various briars and cobs. It can be smoked fresh or aged, and never disappoints. It burns very slow, so make sure you have at least an hour or more. It smokes and tastes great. If your into full body Virginia’s, I highly recommend it.

@10furlongs
Thank you. It’s a staple for me as well. I tried to be as impartial as much as possible.

One of the few straight VAs I really like - though I do seem to find it stronger than most people, nicotine-wise. Medium Flake is also very good. I don't think I've had a single SG blend I didn't like, some to think of it.

That was a good review....
That Flake might be a good choice at some point for pipe tobacco of the month, as I believe that it is obtainable in both sides of the pond.

Just a few bowls in on my first ever tin and very much a newb piping perspective but I'm finding a sweet and tangy going back and forth instead of one dominating as my other Va. experiences. Very nice indeed but I'm hearing tiny voices begging for aging.

Very nice indeed but I'm hearing tiny voices begging for aging. Aging vs fresh FVF is like night and day to me. My first time trying it was well-aged, and then when I had some fresh it didn't even seem like the same tobacco. It's now aging...

How long @chico does it need to age? Are we talking months or years? I was thinking about grabbing some since it is showing up in stock again, but only in the 250 gram boxes. So that might be a perfect excuse to jar a bunch, and keep out a bit to try now.

Awesome flake. Love how long and perfectly cut they are. Pure flake without any noticeable sugar vinegar topping.

william - I checked and it was actually 11 years old! Not sure when the window of greatness begins and ends.

Excellent review!!! I’ve smoked FVF for a number of years and I must say it’s one of my top two straight Virginia flake tobacco’s. Burns slow and cool in the pipes I have dedicated to this superb Flake......especially 2 of my Oom Paul Pipes. Still don’t know how to post pictures within this forum and if there is a grace period for new members to post pictures.
