Just another Monday? I think not. I received this wonderful pipe from Slowroll, who told me that a friend commissioned this, but he is sworn to secrecy. @markinor , no need for tissues yet as I am still dumbstruck. Slowroll even wrote directions on how to break it in, which is a good thing, as I am a total knothead on the right way to do something. All of the pipes down to the last one I have received are in my rotation, yet get some rests now and then. This one will be baptized with Five Brothers rather shortly. My thanks and appreciation. You all are too much. David

That is a sweet looking pipe! I know you will find your aliens in the clouds of smoke you will produce!
Enjoy that!

I'm glad you got it! Enjoy. Your anonymous friend will be glad. Once you get it broken in, you'll probably get about 7 grams of tobac in there for a long smoke. Smoke slowly and the dottle won't be too deep.

Congrats and Enjoy. I like how the finish has a subtle (but not overdone) shine to it.

zver You've been sneaking into the Chronicle glomming our secrets! slowroll & @johnr I asked Slow a while back if these could be clenched and still balance. He affirmed they could, and this does. Just finishing up a half bowl of Five Brothers and it smokes like a dream. I chose 5B because I know how it burns, so this will probably be a 5B during it's break in process. And to my friend, I am not going to try to figure it out. But what better way to enjoy a pipe than to ponder the mysteries of it?

The beauty, I am finding out, is that the curvature of the bowl gives you room at the bottom to wrap your forefinger around. slowroll did do amazing work. Also, I am a choo choo train in puffing. Bowl never got past warm. Never got hot. I think being thicker in the middle has something to do with it.

Great job Slowroll. Enjoy David you deserve a treat after giving all you've given to the great members here. Atleast you christened it with a great tobacco.

My slowroll pipe is one of my 20 best pipes. And this is rarefied company, consisting of pipes that smoke so well that I can't rate amongst them and I can't I'm a pipe smoking any better. You will have a lot of enjoyment from this gift.

You will have a lot of enjoyment from this gift. Thanks, Ron. I already have had about four bowls in it. All Five Brothers. It's smoked like a champ since the first bowl. I just may make it a strictly Burley pipe. With RD coming back and these pipes still available I may be on the hunt for more later.

I have smoked every kind of blend in mine, and it really shows the quality of the tobacco. It really delivers the true flavor. Aro or English, the smokes are all good, but the good stuff is noticeably better.

Ted, I can't take credit for extreme generosity, I just made it. It was commissoned by another extremely generous member for David. Not only generous, but obviously a man of good taste
