I do not own a pipe that takes a filter. Been looking at some Savinelli pipes and the majority of them seem to take a 6mm filter. I am not interested in messing with filters. So can I just ignore that and smoke away?

Yes you can, and I often do (not always). You can also get some adapters that will narrow the passage to a more non-filtered pipe size. Several of my pipes have them. SP has them for 4 for 5$ or something

You can. However, the bent Savs with the balsa filter aren't really troublesome, and they do pretty Well cure the moisture problem of many full bents. They don't really filter, just moisture trap, so no flavor impact.

The Balsa Filters are great and eventually partly pay for themselves in pipe cleaner savings. When you buy a new Savinelli, it comes with a complimentary pack of filters and a 6mm Adapter.

Thanks for the responses. I thought I would treat myself to a new pipe and looked at some Savinelli offerings. Just wondering if the filter interfered with the smoke.

I've several Savs that are supposed to use the filters (they are straight) and I don't use 'em and find the pipes smoke fine as is. JMHO

Filters are optional depending on your preference. You might try it once and find it a positive, at least that's what happened to me.
