When I was young and buying pipes I bought into the idea that pipes should be pretty and shinny.I bought mostly smooth pipes. Then I bought some wax and polished them up so they looked real pretty. That worked real well back then. These days I'm finding more and more that shinny pipes are also slick pipes and easy for old stiff hands to drop.If I could go back to those days of old I would do a few things differently. One of them probably would be to buy more rusticated pipes. They're a bit easier for me to hang onto...

I get almost as much pleasure from the feel of a nicely rusticated pipe, like a Radice Rind, as I do from the smoke itself.

I prefer a bit of rustication too. I love the pipes that have a bit of both. mmmm
