I just received this unsmoked Kaywoodie Flame Grain billiard from a member of the "other" forum. He also , generously, included the tins in the pic. This is the first pipe I ever had with a stinger intact so there'll be a learning curve. Any recommendations on how to handle that are welcome.

Congrats. A generous gift to be sure. Pick your best dry smoking blends and hope for the best.

Breaking it in with Irish Flake. Seems to behave itself well. Need to build a bit of cake as the bowl is uncoated.

It's also a + that you got a KW with grain. I've had & seen them in Flame, Straight, Super, that really had no grain to speak of.

I smoke my kaywoodies with a stinger, they are a different beast to be sure, but not really a big deal.
You can unscrew the stem while it is hot and use a skinny cleaner to perform a swab if warranted, and you are back off to the races.....some people saw off the stinger, I have never found it to be a problem.
Nice looking pipe...was ashdigger the benefactor?

I have them with and cut. Can't remember each one beforehand, but by midbowl, the difference usually becomes apparent, but will get a clean/dry stinger smoke occasionally.

I've never noticed much difference with a stinger, except for annoyances that I can't get my pipe cleaner through the stem if it gurgles.
It's a lovely looking pipe though. Health to enjoy it.

Charlie, I got the pipe from mwsmoker on PM. 10-4 Last I saw Tim, he was quite the Kaywoodie fan. They put out some great looking pipes, and they have a long loyal fan base.
