SP estates has had a batch of BBB and Stanhill posted another one today in WAYS. What I have wondered in regard to Christmas pipes (in general) is are they specially selected briar or are they commemorative, with some stampings and deign touches?

I think that it is more about marketing than anything. The Pipe guys went out of business a few months ago and I acquired some 2016 Christmas pete's at a deep discount, they are wonderful smokers...with the green, red and silver, they definitely telegraph Christmas. Our local tobacconist has several of the 2017 pipes with white stems...to me not nearly as appealing.

The green and red certainly go well together, and as you say, scream 'Christmas'.
Santa would be proud to smoke those babies.

BBB Christmas pipes are stamped: "Christmas (year)" and "Special Make" on the left side of the shank and "Made in England", the earliest, then later "London England" on the right. My earliest (1959) has the silver diamond stem logo and my next (1965) has the logo in gold.
