Tough choice. My wife always makes me a NY style cheesecake for my birthday. I usually make here a carrot cake for her's.
I like pie, but cheesecake is my weakness, but it really is closer to a pie than a cake.

Nah, rather have me some fresh made buttermilk pie. But yet a good plate of fresh made Scones with a pot of fresh perked coffee would be heavenly. Then we can leave the crumbs for later.

As a child I used to love cake, especially the icing. When I was about 12 my cousin got married and I got sick on her wedding cake (I only had one piece!) For years I didn't eat cake, and so for my birthday I asked for apple pie, which my grandmother always baked. I had an apple pie every year until I went off to college. My freshman year I had an ice cream cake. Awesome. Would still get one but there are none available in my area any more I will eat cake again, but it has to have no icing, or cream cheese icing, or whipped cream icing -- which, surprising, isn't overly sweet. I do tend to prefer pies, though, and will frequently pick up a French Silk or a Key Lime from the store

Pie all the way for me! Preferably a fruit pie, but I also like a good lemon meringue pie. The best pie I ever tasted was a piece of blueberry pie with a scoop of vanilla ice cream on top; ate it after paddling for 5 days on the Buffalo River in Arkansas in the hot sun. That pie experience is burned in my memory.

If it is a birthday, it must be a cake.
Otherwise, pie.

Tough one. Cheesekake and pumpkin pie are my favorite desserts. If I had to pick one, I would flip a coin.

I used to love Carvel Ice Cream cakes on my birthday. Do you remember Tom Carvel?

I am with you Maggie... cake with heavily laden icings....yech!
When I lived in California, a woman named Vivian lived down the street, her yard was full of several different fruit trees, and she was incredibly gifted as a pie maker... her crusts were the flakiest sort of goodness.
Whenever her or her husband Ron invited us over for pie and cofffee, anything else took a back seat.

Oh, I love them all. Pie... Cake... Bring them on. I have a gob full of sweet teeth, to which my waist-line is a living proof.

I grew up near Detroit and was fortunate to have had access to the Sanders Bumpy Cake. This is the greatest cake in the history of cakes!

Imagine you are approaching your birthday. Your significant other asks you what you want? What would you pick? I am a pie guy! Fruit pie rubarb was the one I got most growing up or apple. Any fruit will work. My wife is a cake person and my son goes for cheese cake. So what do you lke best? Z Although I do love a good Strawberry Rhubarb pipe and even just gnaw'en of Rhubarb there is one cake I dearly love. A German Chocolate Cake with (what we called) Barfo Coconut Frosting (don't recall the true name) and it's gotta be put on thick and the cake has gotta be moist.

Just had a slice of key lime pie tonight for desert. A brat and beans for dinner. Three of my four kids here today. Life is good.
