This review is based off an 11 year old tin.
Upon opening, I’m greeted with the McClelland apple-vinegar barrel smell. The ribbons are short in length and full in girth. They’re mostly dark and very dark brown. It did not need any time to dry. In addition to the savoury apple-vinegar Virginias, I sense a slight amount of burning wood. There’s also a spicy tang that’s consistent throughout the smoke. The bowl can get hot with puffing, but never harsh.
Black Sea Sokhoum is a full bodied , medium strength non-Latakia, Oriental forward blend. I recommend this to anyone who loves Oriental blends.

Excellent review, and well aged........ it sounds wonderful. I’ll wait a few more years now.

Just before when I went looking for a tin of Ten Russian’s I noticed a few tins of Black Sea Sokhoum dated 2009. The next time I need to open a fresh tin tobacco one of these will definitely do! All due to your in depth review, thanks for posting!!!

I have one precious tin of this one. Glad to read a positive review - sounds right up my alley. Since you only have one tin let it age for at least 6 years. Then enjoy a bowl on special occasions. It’s a winner in my books👍
