My Dad caught polio as a youth. In a wheel chair in high school and crutches for the rest of his life. The ONLY time I ever heard him complain was when I tried to convince him to let us stay longer at the World's Fair. He simply showed me his blistered hands.
My family took care of me. Blueberry pancakes for lunch, a tee shirt: Awesome Dads have tattoos and beards, and the complete series of Hong Kong Phooey. Yes, they know me well.

HAPPY FATHERβs Day ππππππππππππ
Enjoy the day with your children and remember today is ALL about you, DAD ππππππππππππ
Spoil yourselves today with your favorite tobaccoβs and Cigars, you all deserve the BEST!!!
Being a father has been, without a doubt, my greatest source of achievement, pride and inspiration. Fatherhood has taught me about unconditional love, reinforced the importance of giving back and taught me how to be a better person. Naveen Jain
Love my kids more than life itself, but they have done more to increase my smoking habit than work ever did.

I grew up during the Woodstock Hippie era, never did any type of drugs. Only ate the legal mushrooms....lol. But if someone stopped by today with a β joint β I might partake πππ

My son has two tattoos..He didn't think his old man had the nerve to get one..A few years ago partly just to show him what this old man is made of I got one.It hurt like crazy. It's an experience I won't go through again..He still tell me that he can't believe I did it.Some times I can't believe I did it myself.

Lady Margaret I really love what you said and can relate. My dad died tragically at the end of 2007. He was who I wanted to be. He was a great dad, husband, son, role model and the closest person in my life. I talk about him with my son and try to pass on what was passed to me. I sometimes see things in my son that remind me of him. I like to think Iβm blessed. After he died I fell apart. My alcoholism reached the depths of hell, and I had a plan to kill myself. Miraculously and unexpectedly, less than two years later my wife became pregnant. I never wanted to have children. But when she told me, I had an instant transformation and was never so happy. Iβm now grateful for having almost 33 years with him. Indeed you are blessed. So glad you have had so many years with your son. My husband grew up without a father, he lost him when hubby was just four years old. Doesn't have a lot of memories of him, but he has been a great father to our son, teaching him what he knows at every oportunity. They have a good relationship, and I am glad for that. if you are on Facebook you can see a couple videos I posted of them sparring in our dojo, lol. www.facebook.com/trapperhoneyAs bad as things got for us, we never had ββEnter the Dragonβ fights Margaret... Like a Hatfield raised a McCoy!π Before my son entered the Marine Corps we would have redneck wrestling, I always prevailed, but there were a few close calls. After his advanced combat training, and his neck seemed to be half the size of my waist, he said... βCome on dad, time to rough house!β I told him that it was high time that we put away foolish notions. I may be older, but I havenβt lost my marbles.

I realized some years back that I did a decent job when my Son, 82nd Airborne Vet, was now working for Exxon, found out his disabled neighbors lawn mower broke and could not afford another one, he started cutting his grass, in the meanwhile his disabilty checks, the neighbors were snafued, and his electricty was gonna be cut off. He carried him till things were finally straightened out. I cannot tell you the feeling I had, like my Father the gene had passed down.

He comes from good stock, with a solid dad and mom exhibiting them actions them children are recording what takes place, more often than not that character passes on to the next generation.

My dad died last year after falling off a ladder. I'm glad he went the way he did. My mum couldn't have done a long illness or something like that. Still, I miss seeing him at weekends. I'll raise a bowl to him if I can later today. Oh, Legend, that was horrible and I'm very sorry for your loss.

But if someone stopped by today with a β joint β I might partake πππ I stopped smoking illegal substances in the mid-seventies, but 1970-73 I lived in a large house with 6 others and 3 of us grew our own smoking salad. Potent stuff.

Even though I'm not a father, I did have one. He taught me to read and write, when I was 5Β½ years old and he told me how to pack a pipe and how to take care of it, when I showed him the little woodden pipe, I bought and told him, that I too was now a pipe smoker. I was 12 years old and couldn't really afford any tobacco, so he let me smoke his; "You know where the tins are". He was a police officer and I found this photo I took in 1963 or 1964; he reminds me a little bit of Maigret. I still have the pipe he's smoking, a 'Corsica Elite', given to him by a friend in 1936. He passed away in 2003 at the ripe old age of 95 and I sat holding his hand and whispering to him when he left.

When I was in Denmark a number of years ago I visited the town of Christiania. Had some great cafeβs where people were enjoying their weed with coffee and desserts. Still the same today? I enjoyed my stay in Copenhagen and found the people extremely friendly and helpful to visitors.

Christiania had/has it's Pusher Street, where the hashish- and marihuana-sellers sat at their little tables up and down. Just like a supermarket, really. "Let's see... Black Afghan at 6 kr. per gramme... Hmmm... That's pretty cheap. I'd like 4 grammes, my good man... Please". I haven't been to Christiania since the early seventies, but as far as I know, Pusher Street is still in business.

That is a cool picture! Wen I first saw it I immediately thought of Maigret. He also reminds me a little of Richard Deacon from American sitcoms in the 60s.

Instead of being out of casting central, he was the real deal, cool pic! Thank you, Charlie. Indeed he was; he was in the police force from 1932 till 1970, when he retired.
